Speed passes and how to use them?

You have no reason to apologize. Enjoy your many passes and have a magical trip. :goodvibes

I agree. You might double check with the donor to be sure everything is on the up, if you're concerned but I'd use them. You've done nothing wrong, they were a gift.

The ones you get for staying at DL hotels are good for Little Merrmaid and star tours. We got a Toy Story one as one of the 1st aid passes, but mostly because we just got there when I got sick and DD didn't know any other rides to ask for. She knew Toy Story form WDW so she asked for that.
Right, these are different. The ones at the hotels are good for 1 person per pass, these are good for 6 people. They generally have the ride name written on them, they are dated, and are signed by a CM (in our case it has been a manager.) The last ones we got were purple.

The only thing I would suggest to the OP is not to use them on Star Tours or TSMM as this might send up a red flag.

I would go ahead and use them. Knowing an employee often gets perks and assistance, and I don't think there's anything wrong with using them, especially if you follow their guidelines.

I understand that it's a bit touchy in that using one of these passes could be thought of as cutting in line, but it's not. It's an exception, granted to various people for various reasons, and IMHO it's legit that you have a relationship with an employee and they gave you some of these passes to make your trip to DL more enjoyable.

(I'd feel a bit differently if they gave you a stack of 200, but then again, I'm big into situational ethics.)
