speed limit

Well, if it's the Jersey turnpike, you better be going as fast as the car can go, so the guy behind doesn't run right over you! ;)

I was going to say on 78 the posted Speed Limit is 65 but if you are not going at least 75 you will be run off the road.
I never set cruise control. :confused3 I don't know why? I just never have. On the drive to disney dh does about 5 miles above the speed limit. *unless we are in Maryland where we go the exact speed limit since they stop for anything in that state = or so we've heard.

Of course if it's the Mass Pike at rush hour you're doing 5 mph and glad you're not stopped!

My quarks are:
Highway = Not more than 9 over, usually only 5 over though.
City = Speed limit, maybe 4-5 over, but usually speed limit. Cops are ruthless around here. I had a friend get pulled over going 27 in a 25.

I read somewhere that you can easily fight that as the margin of error for most patrol guns is +/- 3 mph. So she really could have been doing the speed limit.

I would normally set mine to about 70. I figure with the variance in speedomoters that is fast enough I am passing those who are going under the limit but not so fast as to get pulled over or be driving in a dangerous manner. I always go the stated speed on curves though! I spun out once when I hit some gravel on a curve while it was sleeting outside (the gravel had been kicked off the shoulder when somebody else spun out) even though I was going the stated limit. Now it's like I can feel my tires slipping so I absolutely refuse to go over what the sign says for the curves.

I live in CA so you don't get to use cruise control here. You are either stuck in traffic on the 91 that is worse then the lincoln tunnel or you are going as fast as the person in front of you will let you go with someone tailgating you big time and someone else passing on the right out of the carpool lane and back into it to get around whoever is going to slow for them.

We are constantly amazed when we go to other states how slow and mellow the drivers are. Az has to have the slowest drivers on earth they drive under the speed limit Last week we were in Vegas and they drive slow there too but not as bad as AZ. We also had heard all these crazy stories about new york drivers and we found NY and NJ to be pretty darn slow too.

We just dont have the amount of highway pattrol people on the roads here to make that much of an impact on things I guess. I don't drive anymore but back when I did I would do 80 in a 55 all the time and only had 2 tickets total both on local rodes from speed traps. Never ever got pulled over on the highway. When I see a CHP on the highway they are usually responding to an accident or highspeed chase.
