I am doing an informative speech on DISNEYLAND!!! My plan is to give a little history about when it was built the price of admission on opening day and the rest of it like little fun facts, I am by far no expert but have learned a lot on the boards so i have about hidden mickeys club 33 Walt's apt the names on the windows and the Disneyland cats, what other information should I include its a 5-7 min speech so I want to make sure I have enough information to cover that time

How about adding that throughout the years they have invested in updating the park with major refurbishments -Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, California Adventure. They've added seasonal updates: Halloween, Christmas. Each year they have a different theme. Now they are preparing for the 60th anniversary. There is a story behind all the attractions at Disneyland, though not all the attractions at California Adventure. Sometimes things are not instantly successful, and Disney will try and fix it - California Adventure.

It has gone from a one-day park to a vacation destination.

They are constantly striving to bring something new to the public, and as Walt said, (paraphrasing here), as long as there is imagination, Disneyland will never be finished.

Oh man, I've done similar speeches on Pixar and WDW. It's fun and pretty easy to remember

Things to possibly include:
  • Matterhorn first ever steel tube roller coaster
  • Basketball court in the Matterhorn
  • A guest once shot a hole in a pane of glass in the HM (ballroom scene), but the glass was too big to replace, so you can see the hole to this day
  • Pirates of the Caribbean was originally a walk-through ride, but after the success of it's a small world, it turned into a boat ride and the ride building had to be expanded - hence the two drops
  • 1964 World's Fair. Disney used this to perfect animatronics, and three rides were originally featured there: it's a small world, Carousel of Progress, and Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. It also featured a PeopleMover prototype and the dinosaur diorama you see on the Disneyland Railroad
  • Tomorrowland, ironically, was the last of the original lands to be finished (opening after opening day) and has always played catch-up
  • Black Sunday
  • History of the Main Street shops (there were actual outside shops at one point)

Be sure to research everything, because this is just what I could think of off the top of my head.

Fun fact is the "A,B,C,D, and the granddaddy of all the rides the E ticket". I wish I could remember how many of each we got. They came in a ticket book that the CM would take when you entered the rides. Besides Peter Pan's Flight I do not think we used any "A" tickets -- I am thinking PP was maybe a B or C ticket ride.

Bring to attention the fact that main street is build with correct height first floor, shorter second floor and even shorter 3rd floor. Each name engraved on the windows is to honor a Disney Employee.

Maybe mention "Oscar" . He has been at DL since it opened. You can find him at the carnation Cafe. Now days he mixes with the guests. He is also happy to have his picture taken with guests. I am sure he will have his name on one of the Carnation Cafe windows at some point. I want to say I hope that day is far away. He is a Disney Jewel.

Thanks for the tips!! Esp about Oscar I just seen a pic of him with someone the other day on a trip report!!
