So the DCL is known to book and fill up quickly. But the Mexico Cruises are still pretty vacant. What are some thoughts that Disney would drop prices even more? Is the recession effecting the DCL this much? Or do people in CA wait to book these cruises last minute? Do the Mexico cruises fill up?

I sooo hope the prices drop....I have all my fingers and toes crossed for Kids sail free on the Mexican riviera :dance3:

In the past these cruises have filled quickly as west coast guests had the opportunity to not have long flights. Bottom line, if they don't fill there will be deals. However, as you're still many months away, it might be a while.

Of course, the "deals" could come in the form of CM and TA discounts....and there are a bunch of Disneyland CMs who might like ships too!

Prices are pretty low already, comparing March 2011, MR is 2100 for 1 adults and 2 kids in a 11b, compared to $3300 for the Eastern Caribbean same weeks, so I can't see prices going down that much.

I have been considering a Mexican Riveria cruise in 2011. Any thoughts on should I book now or wait? I assume if I book now and some better price comes along before final payment is due, I can get the lower price?

I know if they offered kids sail free, I'd book this in a heartbeat. And then I would plan for a few days at Disneyland since we've never been there. We have a Disney caribbean cruise booked during their spring break and I'm a little on the fence still on the Mexican Riveria one and have been mulling over the idea of booking this during our kids break in winter. I know kids sail free offer would be a deal swinger for me if that was offered on this.

I'm assuming kids sail free offer on the caribbean cruises doesn't happen too often? I know the price for that isn't as good as I would like and its certainly more than the Mexican Riveria one but I couldn't do the MR cruise with Disney during my kids school break in the spring as its not available.

Book now....if prices come down or a "new bookings only" special comes out before the penalty date you can always cancel and rebook. Unfortunately, some of the KSF specials came out after the penalty date in previous years.

We're torn between this cruise and the Alaskan in the summer. Right now we are booked on the Alaskan, but this is so much more affordable for us. Wondering two things

If we rebook on our cruise this Aug and they have the kids sail free promo for the Mexican Rivera...can you get the Kids Sail Free offer and the onboard credit or are you only allowed one type of discount.

Also if I book in August on board and the KSF promo comes out in Oct can they readjust my cost?

Thanks in advance
Emily

I live in SoCal, so I have been thinking about the MRC as a family vacation for either March or April since we wouldn't have to spend money on airfare (granted, it will still take a lot of scrimping-saving and convincing my husband to make this a reality).

One thing I have wondered about is, I notice that FLA residence are given a nice discount- and I imagine it is because the ships (Magic and Wonder) have a home base there. I feel that when the Wonder make it's home here in LA, shouldn't CA residence also receive a locals discount?

I'm right there with ya! I hope they do offer a CA residents discount, and since we are in Nor Cal hopefully they don't do it like they do the DL discounts and just offer it to So Cal residents.

I hope so too, that doesn't seem very fair.

I'm right there with you, although I'm not holding my breath waiting for CA resident rates, unfortunately.

I didn't pay much attention when DCL sailed out of CA in 2008, but when they sailed in 2005, they actually offered FL resident rates on selected sailings. So much for FL resident rates being all about filling the ships due to proximity and ease of hopping onboard at the last minute. ;)
I know, I know, loyal long time customer base and all...

Hopefully DCL will eventually roll out some kind of CA resident deal too. :thumbsup2

yes, I hope they make it for all of CA, we may not see it the 1st year, but maybe the 2nd.

As a nor cal cruiser it would be great.

I'll be looking forward to see what CM's get also from the DLR side of things, as my daughter is a new CM

Was just about to post the Travelzoo offer which is via tripres.com - $689 for 7 days with $100 credit seems good to me!

I couldn't tell this travel zoo offer was any real deal compared to booking with disney directly - and is a short window to book by.

Still wondering if the prices might drop or any kids sail free promo (suppose i can wish!)

I got the same offer from my TA today so seems like a legit offer. Don't think the kids sail free promo will come to the Mexican Rivera cruises but you never know!!

Just my thoughts....
