For a family of 6 with young kids who are not interested in the yet to open rides, what year do you all think will be better. We like short lines, hopefully fast pass (though paid for 6 would be a lot). Wondering what thoughts are now that it looks like 2022 will be the 50th but crowds may also wait for yet to open things?

I would *assume* 2023 would be the year disney would rely on good deals to get the parks back to “normal”

2022 will have revenge travel and the 50th.
2023 will bear the burden of an economy still recovering from recession without the passion to drive travel spending.

I agree with this.

This is probably the best guess. However, it is likely Guardians and Tron will be opening end of 2022/beginning of 2023 so could be a lot off people that might wait for them to open before going or want to get back again to check them out.

October 1st 2022 is also the 40th anniversary of Epcot, so there will probably be stuff happening for that. I had a great time at Epcot's 30th back in 2012 so I plan to be there for the 40th as well. :)

That is wildly optimistic at this point. Likely by at least one order of magnitude. Especially given what just happened with Remy. That's a ride that's been finished for months and they're still not bothering to open it until almost 2022. Disney has no interest in putting money into completing new rides anytime in the next few years.

Are you saying you think those rides opening by 2023 is optimistic? That would be one of our thoughts of waiting until 2023 -hoping they would absorb crowds since we have no interest in them making seven dwarfs more doable.

My thought is that Disney is waiting to open Remy until October because they are hoping masks and social distancing restrictions will be lifted then. If they open now, they'd have to add plexiglass,. social distance markers, etc.

With little kids I'd be erring towards 2023. Gives them time to grow a bit too!

Yes, I think the odds of those rides opening by 2023 are very very low. Disney has no interest in spending money to open new rides now or for the foreseeable future.

I think Seven Dwarves will always be very popular/busy regardless of what other new rides open because of its wide appeal.

The low 38” height requirement makes it accessible for so many young kids. Kids as young as 3 can easily hit that height requirement. Its really fun, but not intense, so it appeals to many. It’s appeal to a wide range of ages will make it incredibly popular for years to come - it’s already pretty much cemented as a classic. A ride that is newer, but somehow feels like it’s been there forever.

Because of its wide appeal & low height requirement, I think SDMT will stay consistently very popular. I don’t foresee any of the other rides opening impacting its popularity.
