Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

Hi, just found this thread now. I haven't had a chance to read and will save that for another day I'm not dying with a cold!

We got confirmation last year that ds 11 is on the spectrum. This was after years of knowing there was something different but not knowing what. He is high functioning autism/Asperger's. Mostly it is social stuff he has the most trouble with but after years of odd behaviours, alot of it is really an aha moment, that explains it for us.

Well, I'll be back later when I have a bit more time and energy.

Somehow...I deleted my subscription to this TR. YIKES! I saw Julie's link in her signature and it made me realize how long it had been since I'd read an update.....well, I fixed it and now I'm caught up again.

It looks like you ladies are having a FABULOUS trip! I love the 7 Dwarf pics...so cute!

Sorry you fell Julie...I'm glad it didn't hold you back too much.

Kathy...that is a lovely article about Nathan. Kudos to you!

Kathy, like mommytothreeboys said, truly lovely article about Nathan.
Looking forward to reading more about the adventures of the 7 moms!

Having just visited with Jack Sparrow & Pirate Goofy, we were ready for a snack. It was perfect timing because Heidi had given us all the gift of a Dole Whip!! So off to Aloha Isle we went.

This was my first Dole Whip & it was delicious!! I had the pineapple with pineapple float. Mmmmm... I've had two more since then. ;)

Then it was time for some shopping… I don’t have any shopping pictures… I think we were too busy shopping but Tracy took some great pictures of Main Street along the way:

Up next: A fun (and scary for some) game!

Just catching up on the last few updates. LOVE the photopass pics! Visitation not only has a creative name, but the creativity spreads to his job! What fun!

I wanted to catch Pirate Goofy last time, but we kept missing him. He's adorable!

Dole Whip...yummmmmmmm...what a perfect gift!

Still following along and enjoying every post!! Mmm.. Dole Whips!! Your pictures of Aloha Isle are so fun!!! :goodvibes

Yum! The dole whips look so refreshing!

I didn't know they had a big sign outside the MK saying "Let the Memories Begin". Is that really necessary?

Thanks for the update!!!!!

...MK to Epcot!

This was my first Dole Whip! Can you believe it? I'm not big on pineapple, so I never tried one before. I had the vanilla/pineapple swirl and it was yummy... like a creamsicle! :goodvibes I had fun because it was a first time for Tracy and Jess, too, and the perfect ending to a magical morning.

Here are pix, courtesy of Julie, of the cute "gift certificates" that Heidi made for all of us:

We grabbed a (different) photopass photographer for a few poses with our Dole Whips....

Hey! How'd they get in here?

(Laughing... when we told Disney we were missing a few photopass pix they threw in a few "celebrity" photos on our CD!)

Photo0074FourBySix.jpg

You can tell from my transitions lenses that there was a lot of sun glare... not much sunshine... but a lot of glare. We weren't quite done with the rain; not yet!

This guy was also quite taken with our numbered mom shirts!

What a treat it was to have "guilt-free" shopping time at The Emporium! One of the benefits of an all-girls trip! I picked up Tinkerbell earrings for Tricia (sterling silver with her birthstone) and a Phineas & Ferb CD for Billy and a t-shirt for me! They still had some of the Castle Lights fleece throws left over from the holidays and I made sure I purchased the required amount so I could buy one!

It's so warm and soft... Tricia has pirated it away from me!

We left the MK for a little break at Kidani Village. We were looking forward to a chance to relax... all except Amy. She was beginning to get quite anxious about what lay ahead...

Kathy

BTW: You may notice something a little different about my tickers...

:goodvibesGreat Updates! I love Dole Whips, I can't wait to have one in June.

I loved the article about Nathan, my DS has ADHD so it had some helpful information.

Congratulations on your Jersey Week Trip Kathy! Will you get to go to the Halloween Party?

You ladies were having such a great time and love all the photopass pics. Specially the celebrity ones of you and the seven dwarfs.

Those in front of WTP are fantastic also.

Wait until you see the pix of us playing in the queue!

Beautiful article! Thanks for posting the link!

Thanks, Mary Ellen!

Fantastic article!!

...and thank you, Tracy!

 wonderful article Kathy...and I'm not just saying that because it's about my son...it really captures who he is and so much about how he "does" I am looking forward to my family and other friends to read this and have a true picture about why we love Disney so much and go back...and go back...and a true picture about Nathan... a wonderful gift you have given me :goodvibes

Thank YOU! It was a privilege.

Saying hi! I've seen most of you in other places on the TR boards, including my own! I really want to get caught up with all of your amazing adventures. :goodvibes

Hi Tina! Thanks for stopping by!

what a nice article! I really enjoyed reading it :thumbsup2.

Thank you very much!

...I wish I could turn back the calendar and do things differently for him.

((Hugs))There's nothing I can say that could make you feel better; hindsight is always 20/20 and "the system" is only recently catching up to the problem of the ASD epidemic. But it does sound as though your son did get some special ed services and I hope that they helped him and you.

Thank you for reading along and commenting!

Hi Nancy! Thanks for reading our stop-and-go report... and my article! We'll miss the Halloween Party but may be able to catch an early Christmas Party. Will know more when park hours are released!

Kathy

Call me crazy, but I'm not a big fan of the dole whips. :confused3 ...But it sure does look like you ladies were enjoying them!

There's a lot of wisdom in that group. :)

At first I thought poor #2 had a sunburned neck, but then I realized it was a lanyard. :upsidedow

I'm glad you girls had the chance to shop without kids. That's a nice treat to be able to see everything without sweet little ones who are curious about taking everything off shelves or are wandering and distracting you from all of the Disney goodies.

You're not crazy... in all the times I've been to WDW, this is the first time I've been persuaded to try Aloha Isle. Not sure if I would like the float, but the ice cream was yummy!

WDW sans children is, literally, a "whole new world!!"

MeMom, I have to say that I was NOT exactly thrilled that the photographers wanted so many shots of our 'rear view,' but I took it for the team! ;)

Kathy

Thanks Kathy for finishing up the Dole Whip Post and of course thanks to Heidi again for our special gift... :goodvibes YUM Dole Whips are my new must have snacks along w/ MM rice krispie, a treat from the Karamel Kitchen and a pretzel in Germany and oh something else in France :rotfl:

I loved the shopping too...I got alot during this stop in the Emporuim too :thumbsup2

I bought myself a new bright pink WDW sweatshirt...my old was a M and after tons of wearings and lots of washings it just shrunk (now one of my DD's has it)...plus I got the monorail shirt for my DD as a souvie, a new long sleeve MM shirt for myself (which I got big too, they ran super small), a mystery 40th annivery pin box for DS, plus I bought a tin of candy mints for my youngest DD (she loves mints)...I didn't see them at first so the nice CM's found a whole bunch for me to choose from. I also got a new bracelet....can you tell I like to shop ...and I bought one of the shopping specials too a great new WDW/MM tote...I'll have to take some pix's of my loot another time to post.

Also even thought we didn't have any kids w/ us to watch we did get quite seperated from each other in that huge shop. I had a dealy at the counter trying to get my discount right and I think one of the CM's was from Anne Marie's home town so we were talking w/ her...Kathy was the last one to be found...but we all made our way from MK w/ some goodies :thumbsup2

I also took some snap shots of souvies to look for again when I am back in Oct...:rolleyes1

Hi! I've been reading along, just not commenting. Boo on me!It really sounds like it's been a magical second day! You've really found some amazing PP photographers to capture all the fun that I am sure was happening. I love those Dole Whips! I was actually with Tracy when she had her first dole whip, so I think that was her first float.

Kathy, the article Nathan was awesome. Your writing style totally draws people in. Julie, I was thoroughly impressed at how well Nathan expressed himself - both his thoughts and feelings at Disney. You must be so proud!

On that ticker -- Jersey week?!!? No mom only trip and no Mommy/Billy trip but the whole family for Jersey Week? Spectacular! I think we are just going to miss each other though. Boo!

Great photopass pics with the Dole Whips.:thumbsup2

Sounds like you did some great shopping. That is one of my favorite things is just looking around at all the items in the shops.:cloud9:
