Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

Can't say I had ever heard of it either, google and wikipedia helped a bit, but now I know a new word...who needs toilet paper with word of the day when we have the DIS

nice one...as I was reading this I was telling my younger DD to bring some toliet paper to my other daughter

YES it was raining….seriously it seems I can never get through one trip to WDW w/out needing that glorified plastic bag over my head…and of course did I realize when I took the poncho from home I grabbed the one that started ripping down the front…

As we headed in on the bus we were ready for some fun!

(See the matchy shirts ? today was our special Spectrum Mom shirt day…Jess did and awesome job w/ these and it was fun walking around for the first half of our day in these…we have lots of pix showing these off later !)

And then not so much when we arrived:

As Amy mentioned before Anne-Marie and I were the chosen ones to claim the FP’s for Space this morning, once in the park we got walking as fast as one could w/out slipping on the wet pavement…remember this for later!


We cut through the side walk and up to the Noodle Station to a small rope area and then onward.

It was quite odd how empty Fantastyland was this early in the rain and how many attractions were closed, not only was WTP closed but so was Dumbo…we were a little flustered trying to figure out what to do…

As Amy mentioned after a few mistires on rides we did PPF and then headed back to Tomorrowland and went to flight off Zurg…Buzz we are on our way:

We took several redneck shots of our spaceships and then Jess and I got crazy w/ Zurg…a few of the ladies teased us for slipping in through the bars so easily…sorry

I took my picture for my son Nathan, we take his picture here every time we come.

It seemed to officially stop raining by this point and we were happy…I used the opportunity to be sitting down to try and re adjust my hair for the day.

I’ll stop here and see if anyone else has anything to add…can’t wait to share the stories that are coming next!

I was amazed at how well both Amy and I slept on this vacation. We originally decided to share the living room because we are such bad sleepers at Disney. Or maybe Kathy was slipping us something...

If you read the PTR you'll remember how the weather was obsessed over by a couple of the ladies So I thought it was quite funny that only Kathy and I had proper rain jackets.....but they seemed to love those ponchos!

I hadn't ridden Space Mountain in years because I was either pregnant or it was down for the big refurb so I was rather excited to ride on this trip. Ummmm....yea, no thanks. It was so jerky and bumpy I think I popped some Tylenol after.

Heidi, Amy, I swear that I didn't slip you a thing... that would be very un-Disneylike!

The first time in ages that I made it to the Opening Ceremony at the Magic Kingdom and it has to rain!

It did made for a less crowded Main Street... note the scrim covering the refurbishment to the right...

Like Julie said, we were a little off our game because neither Winnie the Pooh nor Dumbo were open! For some of us the first attraction of the day turned out to be Ladies Room! But afterwards, we did get a group pic with a friend in front of Pinocchio's Village Haus :

Such a tease!! Can't wait to see this...

...or eat here!

Next we went to Peter Pan... success! It was open! A fifteen minute wait on standby? As if!! Not that much of a wait here:

Our white shirts glowed in the dark as we sailed over London and then Neverland!

On our way to Tomorrowland I caught this great picture of Tracy bopping along to the music:

A little rain wasn't going to get us down!


Don't anybody ask me how I scored that high on Buzz... I usually never do!

I am definitely one of those who was jealous of the skinny-minnies who could fit through the bars and take a picture with Zurg!


A slow, relaxing ride on the PeopleMover was just the thing we needed to pass the time while waiting for our Space Mountain FP window.

And just look who was waiting for us as we exited!

Looks as if the sun is beginning to come out after all!

The funny thing about this picture is that the CM asked us to take off our ponchos... Does Disney not like us to take pictures in rain gear so people won't know it rains in Florida??

It was a mystery, but as you can see, we complied.

Wow - it really was POURING! Bummer. but despite that - it looks like you are starting your day off with a ton of fun and NO lines!

This was to be my first ever rope drop. My family and I are night owls. I was really looking forward to it, but the rain had other ideas. As we huddled under the entrance arch, the pouring had stopped and I heard music. They were doing an abbreviated version of it, where the characters don't come off the train, they just wave and welcome you.

That's OK, I'll take it! Maybe I'll get to see the full version this September.

Walking in, some of the characters that had just welcomed us in were now making their way into the park. Chip and Dale walked by and then so did this character....

This guy was a little reluctant to say good bye....

Continuing down Main Street, I took two pictures of which I truly have tons of already but are my favorites and must dos....

Getting to our first ride proved tougher than we thought but after saying our hellos to Pinnochio, we got to soar over Neverland and then head on over to Buzz. I've always really enjoyed Buzz... and apparantly I hit a pretty good target somewhere for this score!

My best ever!


On to the People Mover and though I got a few poles in my tries for pictures, a few did turn out. Ladies first......

Meeting Stitch was a hoot, it was great timing with only one family ahead of us as we approached him. I snagged a solo picture of him a bit later in the morning too....

Off to Space Mountain!

Personally, I loved Space Mountain. I love the speed and the unexpected twists and turns!

A fun morning already with so much more to come... including a great, big, BEAUTIFUL tomorrow!

Great start to the day even though it is raining. Rain doesn't bother me as much in Disney as it does at home

Oh no did someone slip on wet pavement!??

Now that we had some fun and some bumps in the dark on Space Mountain, it was time for the next FP run of the day. Amy and I opted to skip out on COP and made our way over to BTMRR to get FP’s for everyone. We decided we’d text and either meet at WTP if it was finally open or ??? I forget now?

Amy and I headed on our way, chatting as we went and after we passed up HM you come to that little boardwalk area that takes you to the bridge over to the Mountains…

I say "let’s go this way it’s faster"…the wood was wet from the rain and felt a bit slippery, that should have been our cue to not walk on this…well seconds later BOOM I went down and down hard ! My feel just slipped out under me. I had on croc sandals and hit my toe and ankle and my calf. I had to shake it off a bit but I didn’t think I felt that bad…

We got off the walkway and walked a little bit of a slower pace now…we met some friendly CM’s on the bridge overlooking Splash w/ the closed sign. I had brought some trading pins from home to trade for Nathan, so we stopped to do that and I or Amy mentioned I had slipped back there…they asked if I was OK…but don’t you think they should have radioed to close off the path to keep other guests from some fate? Oh well.

We got over to BTMRR and hardly anyone was over here. We got our 7 FP’s.

As we walked back toward Fantasyland…we got some attention. A CM was calling out “25” what was he talking about? Then we realized he was calling out to us…Amy has #2 on her back and I had # 5…it was funny. We explained there were 5 more of us too.

Our shirts front and back were giving us a lot of attention.

Back at WTP we texted it was open (actually before we got the FP’s but the ladies were in COP already) so we just waited….and waited…where were they?

While we waited we watched this PP guy taking pictures of guests in line waiting to have meet and greets w/ WTP and Tigger across the way. The he noticed us and it was like a mini Photo shoot of Julie and Amy…we worked it

We explained to him how there are 7 of us total and they should be coming soon, would he take some more pictures of our whole group? He said he would and come back. Finally a few of the ladies showed up but we were waiting on a few others (I’ll let them chime in about what they were up to)

But then where was our PP guy…

there he is…

but where is Tracy?

I don't have any pictures to add to this but my photoshoot with Julie & what happened in the next segment of our trip are some of my best memories. It was so much fun to run off for FPs (until Julie fell )! The rain had stopped and we had the whole day ahead of us. The photopass CM was so much fun - you could tell he really loves his job.

Looks like you girls are having great fun doing things you couldn't or wouldn't do if you had your kids with you. I'm enjoying all the Fantasyland pictures. With all the big changes coming, it will be fun to look back on past pictures and compare them to the exciting things in the future.

I'm not sad to say that Splash was closed for rehab in January! The FPs were for BTMRR.

Jess worked really hard coming up with the design for the front of the shirts. Heidi came up with the idea for the numbers on the back... and you may notice that they are the same color as we each use here on the TR.

Yes they should have closed down that bridge if it was so slippery!! We use the bridge all the time to get over there.

That is too funny about the CM yelling "25". I would have been wondering why he was doing that.

Sounds like a great day even with the rain at the beginning. I love the shirts. So sorry Julie fell, I hope the pain didn't get worse as the day went on. The mini photoshoot was awesome!! I can't wait to read more!

I thought the same as you at the time but after getting home and thinking more about it it might be to keep the characters from getting wet. At least I hope that's the reason but you never know with Disney.
