Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

UGGH! Forgot tomorrow night is Billy's Back to School Night!

I'll have to watch the program next Sunday since we don't have TiVo....

So hard trying to convince Billy that it's just Mommy and Daddy that go to BTS Night! He keeps insisting that he wants to go too!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Kathy

it may not be for Jan 2011...but it still involved 2 of the Spectrum MOM's and our favorite main Mouse....

MICKEY!

oh and a little thing called DVC ;)

For those of you who don't know...Anne Marie (irish dancer) and I (Scrappie) live just a few suburbs apart in the Chicago Sub's. we had met on the boards through mutual TR's we were both reading...I liked her avatar a whole bunch and we started PM-ing each other and decided we should meet....the Panera Dis-meets were born.

Last Saturday we both decided to attend this Chicago DVC event and thought we should go togehter...more fun! So we made it a girls trip...our daughters (minus her Mariead) headed down together. Now of course we (adults) have met and chatted several times...but our girls had not met yet...after some akward slience in the car...the girls were laughing and rockiling the whole way down the Eisenhower...a few times it was a bit too loud :headache: (mostly my crazy girls)...

We arrived...

Deirde (AM's), Rachel & Bekah (mine...plus Naomi-Ruth was hiding behind the sign)

The DVC event is mostly an add-on incentive sales pitch to current DVC members...we came away w/ a few give aways...too bad no points were included in that deal...but the cherry on top of this 3 hr event was the

MICKEY & Friends DANCE Party (and some food)

These pictures are from my camera...so hopefully AM can add some of her's (not sure what she took)...

Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, & Pluto were there...it was quite fun to see Pluto & my Rachel doing the Thriller dance :dance3:

100_6626.jpg

my Naomi-Ruth was a bit scared at first and was attached to me w/ the death grip hold...but eventually she warmed up and had a fun time...

and finally AM and I got that picture....(took my Bekah 3 times to get it and of course I was looking at something else )

Hope you enjoyed this little fun pre-Disney fun!

OH PS I should mention this funny thing...we keep telling Naomi-Ruth (our almost 4 yr old) we are going to Disney for her b-day...well on Sat when I told her we were going to a Disney thing...she kept telling everyone it was her birthday....:cutie:

Julie and Anne Marie----what a fun way to spend the day! N-R was just practicing telling everyone about her birthday!!

Kathy thanks for sharing the link to the quiz.

We'll be up that way this weekend :woohoo: . We go up with another couple once or twice a year for a weekend. Stay in Schaumberg, go to Ikea, the Container Store and usually the mall and whatever else catches the guys eyes - (they are bigger shopper than the wives are:sad2:) - and out to eat. We bought additional DVC points at that location, but have never made it for one of their events.

Lookin' good, gals!

Definitely a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon! pixiedust:
Thanks for posting it!

Kathy

it was fun...including my now somewhat traditional detour driving through the underground "tunnel" at the Mc Cormick place :sad2: I love how a bunch of adults get just as giddy as the little kids seeing the characters

That's a great picture! :goodvibes

thanks! each time we have one of our Panera Dismeets we always forget to get a picture...but now we have a good one!

Great pictures! Looks like a fun event!

it was fun! and they gave out Mickey rice krispe treats....YUM! had mine last night...savored every bite

very fun! Schaumburg area is great...I used to work at the Woodfield Mall for about 4 yrs before I had the twins...and back when I worked for the Disney stores..I once filled a special shift at their store...the backstage (stock room) there is HUGE! and got to love IKEA :thumbsup2

WOOT WOOT!! What a fun event!!!!! Glad you guys were able to get together!!!

Ooh, that sounds fun! Maybe some day we'll get down to that DVC place in Chicago.

I seem to be lurking on my own group PTR

Thank you for these Kathy! The program now has a "Watch Online" link as well. :thumbsup2

The DVC event looks like a lot of fun! I got a flyer to attend one out here in New York, but it was way out on Long Island, so it would be a bear to get to. Too bad it wasn't closer!

Did you say EPCOT?

Prepare your eyes, taste buds and sense of adventure as you get a sneak peek into the Dis-Spectrum MOM’s EPCOT touring plan….

E-expect some fun twists

P-play along

C-california flyin, test track zipping, and more EMH thrills

O- organized but full of surprises

T-try something new

On our 2nd day at Disney…we will visit EP for a fun filled evening of thrills, fireworks, shopping, entertainment and good eats…plus a few scavenger/photo hunts should be fulfilled this night.

We plan to arrive after our Book Talk break back at our hotel and head straight to the World Showcase…where we will snack and sip our way around the World.

We have two agendas for this portion of the evening:

1) hit lots of countries and tempt our taste buds w/ various foods. Sharing will be allowed. Jess made this great spreadsheet of our top picks of places we want to eat:

DSM-WSsnacklist.jpg

2) play Heidi’s Sip and Snack game…I’ll let her explain more about this later…but basically each MOM will pull one country name from a hat (excluding US & Canada) and then we will pull a food description from another hat. We must eat or drink something that fits that description at our country pick…sounds fun?

pretzel.jpg

pretzels and brats from Germany...

chocolate-crepe.jpg

chocolate crepes from France...

chinese.jpg

egg rolls from China...

school-bread.jpg

school bread from Norway...

The possiblities are endless....

Let’s take a look at some of the fun and beautiful places we hope to see….
