Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

Guess I'm a few pages late for the start, but I did read all of your travel stories and can't help but to feel a very big growing feeling of excitement for you all!! So many last minutes things we moms always have to feel like we need to do for our families, eh?? And yet, there's so much satisfaction in knowing they will be a little better off for our efforts- sounds like you all left "well".

Looking forward to more :)

:goodvibes I am loving all the travel day stories! I can't wait to read about Kidani Village and your first meet.

We ate dinner at Sanaa in October and it was so good. We really like the resort too. It was beautiful.

My first day was actually the day before everyone else. My travels were uneventful....other then that commuter jet that zoomed past my plane at 38 thousand feet, so close that I could have counted the number on windows on it. :scared1:

I had get ME mojo and was at Pop before I knew it.

I spent some time in the room organizing the stuff in my carry-on bag and my park bag. In doing so I now realize that I'm not a good candidate for a split stay....I really wanted to put everything away in it's place (I refrained).

Off to the bus stop I went. AK was my destination for EMH. At the bus stop I had one of those moments in life where you will forever remember where you were when you got an important bit of news. I called DH to tell him I had arrived safely. After chatting for a few minutes he told me we had gotten a piece of mail that day from the State. (Not to go into too much detail but the back story is that we applied to get Liam enrolled in a program thru our State to help with his therapies and doctors appointments. It's something that I have been losing sleep over since October. A HUGE stress in our life.) I took a deep breathe knowing that it can't be that bad of a letter because DH wouldn't do that to me on my first day of vacation. The letter was simple and to the point.....Liam was approved!!! :woohoo: As I stood at the front of the bus line my eyes filled with tears (of happiness) and I could feel the weight of the world lift off my shoulders. This was a good way to start my vacation!!

On to Animal Kingdom!

I didn't do a whole lot at AK that night....mainly because there isn't much to do during EMH. I rode EE 3 times, but the 1st time was a waste because I got a huge piece of glitter in my eye from the hair of the girl in front of me...so I was holding my eye the rest of the ride and had to dig it out myself with a cheap mirror and so contact solution.:confused3 I will say that riding EE in the dark is cool!! I saw ITTAB and just walked around. I found EMH pm at AK to be meh. The park really lost something for me without the animals.

Back at Pop I stopped by the gift shop and picked up this colorful dessert to eat back in the room.

It was now 8pm and my luggage was not in my room (I landed at 3pm). After 3 phone calls (with me not being so nice on the 3rd one) my bag was delivered close to 11pm. Thankfully American idol had been on to give me something to do while I waited.

The next morning I would be going to MK prior to meeting up with all the ladies.

I'll post tomorrow with those pictures and stories.

Beautiful Ak pictures. The sun was just right to get some amazing pictures.

Glitter in the eye. :scared1: It sounds funny now but I am sure you were searching for some light so you could get it out.

Tye Dye cheese cake- YUM

I'm new here! Your Trip report has enticed me out of lurk-dom! I love hearing your stories.:upsidedow
I also have a PDD-NOS kiddo who is 11 and just made the leap to middle school this year!
Looking forward to hearing more of your adventures!

MRYPPNS what wonderful news to receive while at the happiest place on earth. So happy for your family!!!!

Heidi :banana::banana: what great news, I don't remember hearing that while we were there. What a GREAT way to start the trip for sure.

That glitter was WAY bigger then I thought once I got it out. At one point I thought it was my contact folded over in the corner of my eye. I was just thankfully that it didn't do any damage.

Thank you! I would think of the news randomly for the rest of the trip and just get happy all over again! :goodvibes

Happy Place... Happy News... Happy Spectrum Mom!! :cloud9:

Kathy

That sums it up perfectly!

Heidi :banana::banana: what great news, I don't remember hearing that while we were there. What a GREAT way to start the trip for sure.

I think we were talking about it at lunch at Mara.....maybe you were up getting your food?

Heidi...you were so right about how awesome that phot of EE w/ the moon is :thumbsup2 I had to slightly chuckle at reading the glitter story... not at your expense of course but just remembering how you told us about it during the trip.

and I feel your lament about the split stay and the luggage at Pop :headache: but I must ask how was the tie-dye cheese cake...you may recall I so wanted a peice when we were there and I never did get one...tell me it was horrible right? ;)

looking forward to hearing about your MK morning....again :goodvibes

Back to the beginning of my trip before the other ladies arrived.....

I slept horribly that night, getting up every half hour to turn on the fan in the bathroom so I would have some white noise (I normally sleep with a fan on at night).

I decided not to rush that morning (funny that I have to tell myself not to rush on vacation huh?) Packed up and left the room. I took these pictures of the construction going on over at the new Animation Inn.

Looks like they still have a LOT to too.

I dropped off my big bag with Bell Services to be transfered to Kidani. The nice guy thanked me for knowing which resort I was going to! :lmao: I guess a lot of people don't know there is 2 sections to Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Then I grabbed breakfast at the foodcourt:

I didn't eat it all because now I really did want to rush to the EMH at MK and didn't want to be too late.

I'll be back to post about my morning at MK

Do you remember that it was my OTHER eye that bothered me the whole rest of the trip? :confused3

The tie-dye cheesecake was good, I like that it has red velvet cake on the bottom. But the best sweet treat I had at Disney comes days later.

Wait a sec. How did you get a picture of my DS's bedroom?!?! :rotfl:

Really though - we have the same shelf, same bins...and similar mess! :goodvibes

:yay::yay::yay: This made my eyes fill with tears for you! AWESOME!!!!!!

The Human Fit Tailors sign made me laugh - versus Yeti fit???

Loved everyone's travel stories/first day! Looking forward to hearing more!

One night is ok for me to not unpack, 2 would be the worst. At 3 it's ok, justifies unpacking both times (as long as both places are at least 3 nights lol). I'm with you though, even for one night on work trips I semi-unpack.

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: what wonderful news!!!!!!!!

Buger and fries from Restaurantosaurus (saved 50 cents by ordering it without bacon)

I have to admit, the bacon is worth the 50 cents to me. If I'm going to do a burger...go all the way I say.

UGH on the glitter! I love AK EMH but there isn't enough to fill the 3 hours. EE, Dinosaur and FOTLK fills it pretty nicely for me. I do LOVE walking in as everyone is exciting...that part is cool. And later in the year safari still works with EMH and daylight, so that really saved us on this last trip.

:yay::yay::yay: This made my eyes fill with tears for you! AWESOME!!!!!!

Thanks Brook :goodvibes

I had myself a good chuckle over the Human Fit sign....from some reason I got Planet of the Apes stuck in my mind :confused3

I didn't unpack the big bag....but I had managed to pack my pj's at the bottom of it :sad2:

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1: what wonderful news!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Oh don't get me wrong.....I LOVE Bacon, but for some reason I don't like it on my bugers.

Yup if the Safari was still running I would have been all set because I would have just ridden that over and over again. I won't rule it out in spring/summer months.

So back to my story....

My plan for MK that morning was simple....catch some of the shows that I always miss and spend time on Main Street.

Clang! Clang!

I talked to Julie after she landed to see where everyone was in regards to airplanes/MCO/ME and decided it was time for me to head to Kidani so I got my carry-on bag from the locker and headed to the bus (Oh how I loved having one of the closest bus stops when we were staying at Kidani!!)

I am in!!!!! As a spectrum mom (DD diagnosed with autistic disorder at the age of 3) I could really use a trip like this someday! Can't wait to read more.
