Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

If I could offer one piece of advice to the Moms that haven't been away from their kids over night before, it would be to only call home once a day (either early in the morning or the evening). If there is a real problem someone will call you.

If anyone remembers--- I promised way back when I would do a post on the mini Sip n’ Snack game that I created for our trip. If you listen to the WDW Today podcast the name will sound familiar, I got my idea from their game…..mine is just toned way down.

Basically in a nutshell we all have to buy something to eat or drink from a specific World Showcase country that fits with the “item” called out for each of us. Being creative is part of the game. Here's an example if you pulled "fish" you could get sushi OR Swedish fish candies! (Don't worry ladies- "fish" is not a tag you can pick") Another example is the item tag "Cream" -- that could be something creamy, whip cream, creamer, cream cheese, sour cream, ice cream, etc. Wow...cream is an easy one!

There are 15 item tags plus 1 “swap” tag and 8 country tags (we will not be playing in America, Canada or the UK).

Today I made up the note cards for the game….this is what they say:

Mini Sip ‘n Snack Game
‘Round World Showcase

GUIDELINES FOR THE GAME

1. Everyone picks one Country and one Item tag. If you pull the “swap” tag, you may take any other player’s item, or choose a new item tag from the bag. If you take a player’s item, they will choose another item tag from the bag for themselves.
2. Your “Edible” must be purchased at a counter service location, kiosk, or gift shop in the country on your Country tag.
3. Your “Edible” can be food or beverage (alcoholic or non-alcoholic). It can be part of a combo meal at a CS.
4. Your “Edible” can NOT be a common theme park food/beverage. No bottled water, no regular sodas, no fries, no popcorn, no whole fruit, etc.
5. Your “Edible” needs to represent your Country as an unique edible item only found in your WS country.
6. Each player should make a reasonable attempt at eating most of what they selected.

I'll be back later with more stuff that I have been working on PLUS I have some news to share

The parks from strictly an adult perspective will be very different for me. When we're not holding her hand, my husband and I are always on "high alert" to keep Ariana in our sites and because of her silent wandering, we're constantly telling and asking one another where she is. Not having to do that will be a huge change and I'm sure I'll catch myself looking for her once and a while! I'm going to miss her and my family something fierce, but I'm looking forward to relaxing and soaking it all in.

I often found myself in a panic looking for someone when I was at Disney with Laura in Sept/Oct!

If I could offer one piece of advice to the Moms that haven't been away from their kids over night before, it would be to only call home once a day (either early in the morning or the evening). If there is a real problem someone will call you.

Definitely agree with this advice! :thumbsup2 Sometimes calling home can be more disruptive than helpful!

I've already warned the Spectrum Moms that this will be a tough challenge for me... but I'm actually looking forward to it now! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear the news!! popcorn::

So for me one of the best presents I can be given is the gift of time. Another great present is anything to do with Disney. So for my Christmas present this year my DH gave me both! I get an extra night at Disney prior to meeting up with the Spectrum Moms for the weekend.

I'll be arriving in Orlando about 315pm on Wednesday and spending the night at POP!. I'm going to take advantage of EMH that night at AK. I'm so excited to see AK in the dark.....and ride Everest in the dark!!! Then the next morning before everyone else flies in; I'll go to MK for the EMH there. I'm going to try to see all the little shows that I never seem to have time for....Dream Along with Mickey, the Pirate Tutorial, the Dapper Dans, the new Tangled thing (that replaced Storytime with Belle). I have a whole list! Then I'll head over to Kidani to meet up with everyone to check out the Villa. I'm very excited about all of it.

I've been busy this week trying to get things done for this trip. I've gotten all my touring cards typed up (still need to print). I updated my master schedule. I have my menus printed. I got the Sip n' Snack game all organized and ready to go. I got a craft project done.

I made this to put on the fridge at the Villa.

Plus I made numbers to go on the backs of our special t-shirts (like a team jersey). So we'll be quite a sight coming and going!! :rotfl2:

Amy and I have been busy organizing the financial part of the trip, and I'll buy the gift card that we'll use to pay for our 1900 Park Fare dinner with this Friday.

Friday. And to cap off my totally Disney planning week, I get to meet with Amy at our Disney store and have lunch together. How cool is that!?!

Yay for the extra night!!! (OK I already knew because she tried to convince me to go with her... since we are both flying out of Manchester, NH and were originally scheduled to fly down together... but still VERY exciting news!)

I love the bus schedule! :thumbsup2

Can't wait for Friday!!

I too like most of the moms am looking forward to some time away from the realities of life. I have never been away from my children over night, so this will be challenging for my whole family, but I think necessary. I know I need some time away to feel refreshed

I have had my two granddaughters, a four year old and one that will be two in April, since Christmas night so that my daughter and her husband could have some free time. They have been able to go out to eat and actually talk. Jill has been able to eat her food while it's still hot. She's been able to get housework done and go into stores without lugging kids, dealing with carseats, and listening to begging of any kind. She's been able to take long, hot showers with no one banging on the door. She's been able to DIS! :cool1: I have enjoyed having the girls with me, and I am so glad it has given her some time to just be her.

I really hope you ladies have such an awesome time just being yourselves - having fun with just the big girls and letting yourselves go to giggle like little girls. I know you all more than deserve this time and this trip, and I hope it all goes just perfectly for you.

I love the game! It's going to be so fun!! And such a different way to experience the World Showcase.

Congrats Heidi on the extra day!!!! :yay:

Looks like we still have two readers following along! Come out of the woodwork & say Hi if you are still out there! :goodvibes

Plus I can not wait for our 1900 Park Fare dinner......I think that is just going to be a HOOT!!!

Oh man I so agree...I was joking around w/ Matt the other night I should pull out an old Bridesmid dress put on some crazy eyeshadow and see what Anatasia and Drizella think of that :rotfl:

ditto that....and not to sound like a mean Mom...but I plan NOT to call at all...I will send Matt a text that we made it on Thurs and then another on Sun when I'm boarding the plane to come home....gives me a full break and Matt the assurance I know he can handle this...this will be the longest I have alone been away from the kids...but I am not worried a bit  I know I need this break w/ these ladies who have been my life source many a times...and my kids so get it and I love them for that...well maybe not my 4 yr old...she grrs at me and squishes her face up..."I want to go back to Disney right NOW!" ;)

I will be that distracter and holding hand and hugger for any of you Mom's who are missing their kids...I'm sure I will miss them down there at "OUR" place and since we'll be talking about traveling w/ them...but this a really good thing :goodvibes

Hi Ladies!

I followed over from the ticker in Tracy's TR - I've been meaning to for a while and finally have had an afternoon/evening to read your amazing PTR :goodvibes I am so thrilled for all of you to be able to spend this fast approaching weekend at your favourite place with other moms who "get it". I'm sure there will be loads of fun and laughter and maybe some tears (but in a good way).

My youngest brother, who is now 33, has developmental delays so having dealt with his issues when we were all at home, and watching my parents continue to deal with them I do understand how important it is for all of you to have a break and to have such a wonderful support group.

I may not have a chance to get back to your PTR as January is crazy month for me at work, so I wish you much pixie dust on your gathering and I can't wait to read all about it when you get back :)
