SpectroMagic and park hopping questions

We are going to WDW Dec. 1-14. I'm planning stuff out, and have two questions.

1. We have never seen SpectroMagic. I read somewhere that during less busy times, they only have it on Saturday. Can anyone who has been there that time let me know if this is the case?

2. This is our first time getting Annual Passes. In the past, we have always gone to one park for the entire day. I thought maybe this trip we could split some things up...one park in the morning, another in the evening. But I'm wondering with the transportation issue (we won't have a car) if this is more trouble than it is worth. Any ideas here?

I would like this trip to be more 'laid-back' and less 'commando.'

Thanks for you help! I get the best ideas here.

The most they will run SpectroMagic in early December is twice a week. Once on Saturday night late, and once during the week on a night they do not have a MVMCP. But beware of the nights they show SpectroMagic during this time. The worst crowd we have EVER seen at the Magic Kingdom was a weeknight in Dec. when SpectroMagic was scheduled. It was very unsafe and uncomfortable being in the park that night.

Usually Spectro is Saturday and one day during the week- if I recall it is Tuesday (?). If this isn't accurate I am sure someone will chime in :)

We always rent a car, but because of short park hours everywhere but EPCOT I would consider park hopping there a couple of times during the trip whether you have a car or not :)

We always park hop during our trips - to us, getting there is half the fun! We try to use all the different ways to travel - boat, bus, and monorail. Of course, I think a lot depends on the age of your kids and energy level - and how long you'll be there and how much you want to see in each park. Some folks don't like to "waste" the time traveling around, but we enjoy it.

On Spectromagic - it is a lovely show, defintely worth seeing - as the previous poster said, it depends on your tolerance for crowds at that time of year.

It's usually Saturday and Monday and/or Wednesday night in early December because MVMCP is Sun, Tues, Thurs, Fri. I've experienced big crowds all day on the weekday it is scheduled to run. My advise would go somewhere else during the day and just got to MK at night to see the parade. It's usually early because it gets dark early - sometimes 6:00pm on the weeknight, later on Saturday with sometimes 2 runs. We always parkhop, go to one park for the morning/early afternoon, return to the resort for a break and then head to another park for the evening.
