After many years of trip planning/going, I have a question that I need help! For the first time we are going during Christmas week (something I never thought I'd do!) and are only going to the parks for 2 days 12/29 and 12/30.

12/29 is passes our MK day (avoiding fireworks crowds on 12/30)
12/30 - AK and HS? Hoping rivers of light is on so I'd love to see it, my dh is a huge star wars nut so he really wants to go to HS studios which has night EMH that day.

Question - how likely that we (family of 4) would be able to do safari ride + expedition everest + new show (maybe they'll extend jungle book?) without fast passes so I could 'save' the fp for Hollywood Studios (RnR, star tours, not sure what else yet) since crowds will likely be worse? Or is AK just really bad too?

All opinions welcome. Thanks!

Rope drop Safari, single rider EE immediately afterwards, book a ROL (or Jungle Book) dining package.
I'm not entirely sure you can do the AK night show and the HS Star Wars fireworks on the same night though.

I don't imagine that you could do nighttime shows in two different parks on the same night. I would pick one park to do in the day and then switch to the other park later in the afternoon or early evening. I think that you would be better off at Animal Kingdom when it opens and do everything that you really want to do right away and save fastpasses for the evening at HS.

Thanks for the feedback! I was thinking Rivers of Light and then rides at HS, not even the fireworks. So now I don't know...we only have 2 days worth of tickets so there's not much more I can squeeze in. And AK hours still show 5pm so in my head I was thinking the show would be at 5 but I'm sure it'll be extended and then later. I just booked this trip so haven't been reading much, I'll need to get on it!! Thanks!!

If the show is early you can catch it then hop a bus to AKL to catch the bus to HS. It would all depend on the hours of operation of HS and the time of the show.
Personally I would skip the show if I was coming back in a year or so and just do am AK, afternoon HS using fp+s at HS.
If I didnt think I'd be back in a year or so I'd do my morning/1/2 afternoon at HS using fp+ and the hop to AK with a ROL dining package for show and additional rides.

I just saw pictures of Animal Kingdom at night. It is gorgeous and there is a lot going on. I'm sure that there would be a lot going on at Christmas time too. Could you hop over there for the evening on your MK day? I would LOVE to experience AK with all of the new nighttime things. There is even a sunset safari. Whatever you do, you will have an awesome time. It sounds like a DREAMY trip. How many days total are you going to be there?
