Hi,

We are doing lunch at the Castle. Can someone please tell me what they mean by the first course being "Specialties of the Royal Castle"? Is it a shared dish of some sort of appetizers? Are they always the same? What did you have?

Also what is the dessert "blueberry buckle"? I recall seeing a picture of it and it looked like a leftover breakfast blueberry muffin with something stuffed inside of it! Any other choices for dessert?

In general, for lunch-has the menu changed at all since last year? Does anyone have a souvenior copy to scan for adults and children?

Any really good hints for enjoying our lunch? We have 5 do you think they'll to shove into a table for 4? We have very late lunch ADR at 2:45 pm!

Thanks so much for your help I really appreciate it!:goodvibes

We were there last month for lunch- the specialties were on a platter that we shared- some cheeses and pastrami and this out of this world marinated chicken, and some salad greens. It was pretty good.

For dessert we had some choices, I don't remember what they all were, but most of us in the group had this chocolate thing- it was like a cheesecakey bottom and had ice cream on top. It was quite good, very rich.

We were a party of 5 also, and they sat us at a table for 6. How the reservations systems work, as I understand it is an odd numbered party is sat at a table for the next size up even number. HTH

I had the majordomo pie and really enjoyed it.

We were there for lunch last month also and sounds like we had the same things. The sampler platter had some cold cuts, cheeses, the marinated chicken, a salad (I *think* it had a BLT dressing, it was YUMMY!). It was one platter for the whole party. I had the Major Domo's Favorite Pie. VERRRRRRY good. DH had that also. Both of sons had the sandwich that was offered. They loved it. That came with sweet potato chips. Those were terrific! Can't remember what DD had, but I think it was the chicken strips. I'm pretty sure she had a sundae for dessert. DH and I and one DS had the Chocolate Buckle. It was very good, though I was disappointed they didn't have the blueberry buckle as I was looking forward to trying it. DS16 had the raspberry sorbet and he loved it.

We also were a party of 5 and we were definitely seated at a table for 6 so we had plenty of room. We had so much fun there. Thinking my memory of it would be a tad bit clearer if it wasn't near record cold that day and we were freezing our butts off!

Enjoy your lunch at the castle!

I love the food for lunch at CRT. I always get the pasta (yummy!) and the BLT salad from the sample plate is sooooooo good. I can' wait til July, when I am eating there again!

Thank you everyone!

Just an aside- I see "chicken strips" on a lot of the kids menus. Are they fried like chicken nuggets?

Thanks again and again!

The blueberry buckle is one of the most delicious desserts at WDW in my opinion. It is shaped like a muffin, but is more like coffee cake/streussel in texture and flavor. Very sweet, with crumbly stuff on top. So think, fancy and tasty muffin. It comes with a light lemon sherbet type stuff too, that compliments it very well. I loved this dessert!

You must have been there the first week in January. We were there at that time and had to peel off 3 layers of clothes every time we went inside. But hey we were at Disney!!! :yay:
