Specials for deployed soliders?

Hi

My DH is getting ready to deploy to Kuwait. We were thinking it might be nice to surprise the kids with Daddy and Mickey Mouse! If not, I was wondering if there were any specials for the families of deployed soliders? I contacted Shades of Green for info but thought I would turn to Disney directly, also.

If anyone has any info or an email I could contact someone it would be great. Just looking for something positive to help us get through.

Thanks everyone!
Lisa

My husband just got back from Kuwait. We went to the Contemporary for 5 days to celebrate. I looked all over for any specials for Military members and got a big fat nothing. Other than shades of green, if you call that a deal. Most of the people who do the reservations said you would be better off with the Florida resident rates on hotels and tickets. This is one thing I don't like disney about. Every other park has some sort of military discount. We ended us using the Florida resident rate for the hotel and getting the Florida redident 3 day play pass.

Come on Disney you can do better than that for your Military!!!!!!!!!

Because WDW already discounts the tickets through SoG, and SoG offers on property accomodations, I don't see why WDW would offer anything else. The other parks do not have a "SoG" situated right on property, which is why they do offer deals. It's actually quite possible that their contract with SoG requires that they not compete with SoG.

Active duty and retired military, activated members of the National Guard, activated Reservists and Department of Defense employees can ask for the following codes and get special discounted rates at select Walt Disney World resorts for check-ins 8/1/05-10/4/05:

Code EXJ for 30% off rack rates on a stay of 1-3 nights
Code EXK for 40% off rack rates on a stay of 4 or more nights
Military ID required at check-in. Activated members of the National Guard and Reservists must show active duty orders, and must have been active sometime since 1/1/05.Thanks to Small World Vacations for the info on this rate. Thanks to Rory S for additional information.

To reserve a room with the Military discount, call the Disney Reservations Center at (407) W-DISNEY or contact a travel agent who specializes in Disney travel, and request the specific code.

Hope the dates work for you.

Or if you wanted to stay offsite--you could use the government rate at many hotels--marriott, Holiday Inn, etc.

I was just inquiring because Seaworld/Busch Gardens is offering free admissions as a thank you to the military families that give up so much during this time of crisis. Sometimes they offer specials to the soliders when they are on their leave from their missions.
