Hi Everyone I am new to this forum, I am Tink 78's sister - I have been to WDW 5 times before and stayed on/off site and am a control freak with planning and itineries made up to 12 months in advance BUT...... We are planning a very special family trip (kids aged 12 & 8) for my DH (think that the righ abreviation!!) 40th Birthday in June next year so am asking you all for any tips/ideas on places to stay/restaurants/things not to miss. We have a reasonable budget although wouldn't stretch to a stay at the Floridian!

Look forward to getting your responses my sister says you are all great.

Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the DIS

What sort of things do you like doing best at WDW? When was your last trip so we see if there is anything *new* since then!

It's my 40th in two weeks time and we fly off to WDW next week. To make our time there more special we are booked onto a 10 day cruise with the Disney Cruise Line. Why don't you consider a surprise cruise for your husband? If you are not sure about DCL there are other companies such as Carnival who sail from Port Canaveral.

Best wishes

David

I would have suggested the Segway tour for a gift but your kids are too young (and you may have done it already!)

What are your loose plans? ie- Do you have a hotel in mind, are you visiting any offsite parks?

Thanks for the welcome folks I think I posted this in the wrong place but I'll get the hang of it. Ok we last visited in 2004 so haven't experienced Soarin' or Expedition Everest yet. Loose plans are definately want to go to MK MGM AK Epcot Universal and IOA probably Busch and maybe the boys will do Kennedy. Definately not Seaworld or Dolphin Swimming(DH bit funny about that). Main considerations for the hotel are decent quality/location and we have a bed issue as kids will be 13 yr old girl and 9 yr old boy then not apropriate to share a double bed - thinking about a Kid Suite? I think they have rooms with double beds and bunks in AK - What do you all think? We love the characters and love good food. DH thinks he would like to have his Birthday Meal at Cinderella's Royal Table have downloaded menu from this site but not sure. The kids and DH are mad on all the big rides and I love the simulators. We also enjoy shopping and the kids love the water parks - hope this helps you to give me some tips. Thanks again

Have a look on the restaurant board for crt discussions, most people say it's well worth the cost & hassle of getting a reservation (a must do at 180 days before)

See here

And here for the resort discussions, they will be able to tell you the best resorts & rooms for kids sleeping seperately
