Special offer @ SSR

Wow!! That's better than saving a bunch of money on your car insurance! :rotfl:

Welcome Home!!! :cool1: :cool1:

It's kinda tempting to sell my small OKW contract to get more at SSR for the 12 additional years....

If you want someone to refer you, I'd be happy to do so. Just send a PM. Annmarie

My guide said the promo just started 10/2 and they were mailing things out to current members. Anywho I am glad I found out about it and snatched it up.

And for the person who asks if they take the amount from the 20% down, yes they apply the savings toward the down payment. I bought 180 points and the savings that was applied to the down payment was 2646.

can someone please post the termination date for this offer when it is known?

thanks

Just got off the phone with my guide, here are some more specifics:

--Current DVC'ers must buy at least 120 points (as already stated in this thread)
--Those being referred (new owners) still have th purchase a minimum of 150
--They are selling for JUNE use year.
--ALL 2005 points available, all of which can be banked. NO 2004 points. Your 2006 points will come on June 1st, as expected.
--No statement yet of how long this promo will last
--All you need is the name of a current DVC'er and they will make a note on each person's account. Once the deal has closed, the old DVC member will get $200 as a referral bonus.
--for new members, the rest of the deal is still the same: An initial $500 down to get the ball rolling, the rest to be paid as you choose (pay in full, put down a percentage and use Disney financing, etc.)

I am SO CLOSE to finally doing it! I told my guide that I would call her tomorrow with the definite answer. I want to sleep on it first...don't want to get caught up in the hype and make the wrong decision!

I haven't read yet about this being a 120 point contract for the noob's. Can the noob's get a 120 point contract at this $83.25 rate? If so, there is no choice here. Been looking for a 75 point contract, but if I can get 120@83.25 with the 10 year ( I know, financing vacations is bad ) and financed by Disney, duh!?! No brainer. No stripped points, actually double the points, and no ROFR. Man, I hope this is true....

EDIT : see 3DisneyKids got some info during my post. 150 points is too many for me. So I think I might have to pass on this one. Man, another night of running the numbers. You'd think I'm an accountant or something ;)

Just one correction, not all members can get the $200 referral bonus. There are many states that will not permit this bonus (my guide told me VA is one of those where they can only give the bonus if the member is a real estate agent, or something like that). Regardless, I still don't mind referring folks and glad to do so. Money is money and every penny counts!

Just some quick advice, definately don't rush into it if you aren't completely sure it's for you. If you know it's something your family will benefit from and you can afford it, then I'd say jump on it!

Good luck and let us know what you do! :goodvibes

I bet if you are adding on 120 with a December UY you will get 2004 points. Selling June UY refers to new members (or 150 minimum purchases).

Yes, you are right...the bonus is not available to all states.

Thanks, as always, for the sage advice Vascubaguy. I know that DVC is right for my family--we are definitely buying in. We can also afford it, (thankfully) so that is not the issue either. Just trying to make sure that this is the "right" deal at the right time. No question, it seems to be a heck of a great deal--especially conisdering the extra 12 years that come with SSR.

My only concern is the age old debate of "buy where you want to stay..."

Although SSR is beautiful, it is not our first choice. No need to get into the debate here...there is another thread going for that...LOL

I'll definitely let everyone on the DIS know what we decide...

I talked to my guide today because I was starting the process of buying a 100-pt addon on when this was announced. She called me today to give me the scoop. I only need to add 20 pts to what I was going to buy anyway, and at this price, no big deal. Thanks to this thread, I did not rush into buying and waited to talk to my guide about the new offer.

We have a March UY, which means I would get 120 now (which I can bank and I will) and another 120 (plus 210 original contract) in March for a total of 450 for next year!! I'm so excited... Thanks to all of you!

Like I said I am a new member and bought with this deal and I do have a June UY.

This is Good News and Bad News ;)

We purchased resale (300 OKW) and had it paid off in less than 1 year

Purchased add-on (100 SSR) and had it paid off in little over a year. We just got it paid off a month or two ago. We were gonna wait on an SSR add-on but now I am thinking about calling our guide and finding out about an add-on. This is a good deal! We bought SSR at pre-sale for $79 per point and $83.30 is the closest I think we will ever come when talking an add-on. We really only wanted 100 points! What to do with the extra 20? ;)

My DW and I have been talking about joining for over a year now but we just wouldn't make the plunge. We are in the process of selling our condo and buying a house (hopefully will be closing before Thanksgiving) as well as starting a family so we have stopped talking about lately. Then I read this post. Wow, what a great sounding deal. The cool thing is that her sister is a member through her in-laws (they just got back from a trip on Monday) and now with this deal, I have my DW close to saying "Yes!"

I have a few questions:

Do you pay maintenance on the 2005 points that you get?

If not, does that mean you don't pay for maintenance till June 2006?

And if you finance, when do you start paying? At the closing or June 2006?

Thanks for all the help!!

When you get them to draw up the contract, you start paying MN fees. However, they are prorated from that date so you wouldn't pay for the entire amount of MN fees on the 2005 points, just 2.5 months worth. I'm not sure exactly how those would be calculated in, but you probably wouldn't have to pay those '05 fees until January 2006 (the same time when the 2006 dues would be due as well). However, you can get the monthly debit plan as opposed to paying lump sum and that helps stretch it out over 12 months.

HTH

We just got ours and how ours is set up is that they will send us a prorated bill after closing and such and that will probably be toward the end of the year. We will have to pay about 2.5 months worth of dues and still get all of 2005 points. We opted to have our montly fee from Disney taken out of our account on the 15th of every month along with our monthly dues taken out on the 15th. We chose to pay our fees monthly instead of all at once. Your choices for this are the 1st and the 15th of the month.

Also payments (if you finance) aren't going to be taken out for 90 days, so we won't have to make our first payment until January sometime. Great because of the holidays coming up and such. Also you put 10% (up to 2500) on your Disney Visa card and its 6 months of no interest on that.
