I'm throwing a shower this weekend for a friend who is adopting a special needs boy who is 8. (I'm excited because he is a good friend of my DS8 also special needs). Any way I just put together her gift from 3 of us and thought I would share:

Special Agent MOM (aka _____________)
Your mission, (which you’ve chosen to accept), is to raise ____________as your son. With this mission comes a specialized team (aka. Other mom’s) who are available at any time to listen, answer questions, help out , and just spend time with. We’ve packed some “gear” to help you on your journey…

Please open your gift before opening envelope #2.

Good Luck---and God Bless you both!

The Official MOM Bag
(And extras baskets)
Here is your Mom Bag, so now it’s official. Everything you need to survive ready to be tucked in your car for every day emergencies.
ICE Notebook: In Case of Emergency. This holds all your contact information. Doctors Phone Numbers, Hospital, Medications, Therapy Info, Phone numbers for take out, Information so others know ____________ rituals (bedtime, favorite music, approved snacks etc.).
Kleenex: For those runny noses and watery eyes
Babysitter Checklist: Every Mom should have it
Grocery List: Because even Mom’s can’t remember it all
Anti-Bacterial hand sanitizer: Because we are on the go and you never know when you’ll need it.
Lipshine: No chapped lips here
Wipes: These are Great for just about everything.
Gallon size Bags: Great for carrying an extra outfit, packing outfits (a whole outfit fits in a bag), and containing dirty clothing, as well as treasures little boys find
No tears Shampoo- Boys get dirty—you’ll go through a lot of this
Spray on Sunscreen---FANTASTIC stuff. It’s difficult to get them covered with sunscreen fast enough and this is quick, easy and works. We love this.
Mini First Aid Kit—minor scrapes and bruises are to be expected. Keep this in that bag!
Benadryl and Tylenol—Don’t leave home without these. We’ve made that mistake a number of times and ended up trying to find an open pharmacy at bizarre times.
Anti-Itch—Because your little guys so sweet and you don’t want him itching.
Safety Straps—Gotta Keep the Furniture upright. 
Batteries—I hope you have stock in these. You’ll go through them like water
Books—Reading is so great and here’s a little bit of everything.
Used Cars DVD: We don’t need 2 of these, so _______________says you should have his favorite dvd at your house too.
Drink Container—Always be prepared. These are handy we take ours everywhere.
Treats---see above.
Handprint Ornament Kit: Something fun for you to do together to remember how young he is now.
Scrapbooking Supplies: Even Mom’s need some time off—so I hope you’ll join us and scrapbook all those great family moments you and ___________ will have. (as well as the firsts)
Photo Necklace: So you can always keep him close to your heart

What an awesome idea! Are you going to put these things in a basket? Put in some children's tylenol too, and maybe some Advil for mom. :goodvibes

That is awesome! What a great way to be welcomed into the "club!":cool1: :thumbsup2

You are truly a special friend! How wonderful. Please do keep supporting her through out the years. Something so easy as just a quick call will mean so much.

I love your gift! And tell her Welcome to club.

I think we've all been there--and I wanted to give her a gift that welcomed her into the "club" and let her know that we've been there.
