Special meal/ideas for NYE

We will be at WDW for the first time ever for New Year's Eve! I know the parks will be wall-to-wall people so I'm looking for some ideas for either a special meal or event as a way to ring in the new year.

I called to make an ADR at CA Grill and they said they're doing a private party that night and it's $525/person!!!

We are looking for something WAY cheaper but special.

Any suggestions/ideas?

Cali is nuts isnt it (pricey). We ate at France the last two years and had a great time! If you're in the parks you'll feel the excitement Just make your adr asap. If I were going for NYE again, i would make an early lunch at the new Mexico restaurant that is opening soon and a dinner at the new Pizza place in Italy. Anywhere is special as long as you're in disney.

If i were dining at the resorts, i would do Ohana and watch the fireworks again from the beach.

We have been to wdw for xmas week for the last 5 years. For NYE plan or where you want to be and make an adr as soon as you can(we leave to go to HHI on 12/30 this year so we miss NYE at wdw). We never go to MK on NYE as it is wall to wall and has closed to all guests including resort by 10am. No real chance of park hopping into that park later. We ate at Japan (teppanyaki then)one year and entered epcot around 4pm after DHS am and early afternoon. Lots of activities, outdoor stuff all over. We had no problem park hopping into epcot (its layout and size), but that could change anytime. Next year we ate at BD and stayed at DHS all evening. Last year we toured DHS until early afternoon then went back to Dolphin(there for NYE only after 4 nights at OKW for the location) hung around BW, lots of activities, had dinner at Kouzinna and then watched fireworks from epcot and DHS from the bw area and was back in out room before most folks hit the trams(after midnite). Rule of thumb: make adr where you want to be and don't plan on parkhopping if it include MK(maybe for others). And make then asa you can....there was a huge line at ESPN club NYE for those who did not make adrs and I would not have wanted to be them.
