Special dinners on the 7-day Eastern Carribean

Can someone tell me:
1. When is the "lobster" night? Is it served in all 3 restaurants that night? How about if you have ressies for Palo that night?
2. What is "Tropicali" night? Is it just the theme of the food (ie. tropical food), or do you DRESS in tropical clothes as well? What is acceptable tropical attire, if the latter is the case? We have some Hawaiian shirts; would that do?

Hawaiian shirts and white pants for tropical night would be perfect. My husband and I just came back from Hawaii, so we have our Hilo Hatties matching outfits. On our 9/21 Eastern cruise that ought to be really funny. The entire theme of the day is tropical, including the menus. I think lobster is on the next to last night, and should be served in Palo's as well. Anita.

Lobster is served as part of the Captains Gala menu in all three restaurants on Thursday. It is also on the menu at Palo that evening.

We actually live in the country, between Solon, West Branch, and Iowa City, but we both work at UIHC.

My secretary lives in Oxford.

I've always said that there is only 2 degrees of separation between anyone in Iowa City!

We went on the 3-day Wonder last year, and loved it so much, we decided to go on the 7-day this year!

How many Disney Cruises have you done? And yes, these boards are GREAT for finding out the "inside scoop" for trip planning!!

Deb, I probably know your secretary! I am planning my second DCL cruise. I was one of the lucky folks that got the $99 voucher last Janaury. My friend and I will be on the Wonder in October for a three day cruise. I am also planning a seven day cruise on Carnival in January 2003 for my family.

We have been on four cruises, and we will continue to cruise as we all really enjoy the warm weather, especially compared to Iowa in the winter months!

I lived in Coralville from Kindergarten through Second Grade and the east side of IaCity from Fourth Grade through Fifth Grade! Long time ago... but I still remember that area fondly.

Dave, do you have any family in the area? If you are ever up this way, please give me a holler. I would love to meet you.

Coralville and Iowa City has really grown over the past five or six years. Coralville now boasts the largest mall in Iowa, and there have been tons of new housing developments and businesses built in the area. You probably would be very surprised to see it now. More people probably live in Coralville than Iowa City now, or that race is very close anyhow...

We were up there in 1998, but that had been the first time in awhile and I don't anticipate any more trips in the near future. We were on a vacation where we were driving up the Great River Road along the banks of the Mississippi. We left the GRR at Keokuk and drove to IC so that I could show my childhood homes and other personally significant landmarks to my DW and DS. I was delighted to find that they still run those amusement rides in City Park... I have a great photo of my DW and DS on the merry-go-round there late in the day on a beautiful summer evening. We stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown. A beautiful hotel that wasn't built until after my family had moved away from there. The mall you mention (Coral Ridge, isn't it?) was under construction when we visited. When my family lived there there the big mall was the mall now called the Sycamore Mall! We sometimes went to Cedar Rapids to shop at the downtown Killians and Armstrongs. Given the demise of downtown department stores, I'm guessing those two downtown stores have since closed.

Well... enough rambling.

Dave, Coral Ridge mall is the new mall in Coralville. Both Armstrong's and Killian's closed quite some time ago. Sycamore mall lost lots of stores once the mall opened, but they have been doing some things to bring people back over to that side of town.

it sure is a small world after all...

Sadly, Dave, many of the rides in City Park are gone now too. The family that ran the rides could no longer run them, and the city bought a few of them (the train and some others). But the ferris wheel is gone.

The Holiday Inn is now a Sheraton.

DUH!! Sorry, Sue, I should have read your signature! I feel silly now . . .

Tell me, HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU GET THAT $99 VOUCHER????

You had to sail a four or seven day cruise last January in order to be eligible for the voucher for $99 cruise.

It is sad that the rides are gone, but I was really (pleasantly) surprised to find them still there in 1998! I found newspaper clippings there about how the same family ran those attractions for something like 50 years! Amazing! Rather an anachronism in this day and age.
