Greetings everybody! I just wanted to share that today I spoke with the special diets dept regarding my son's dairy and peanut allergy. I told them that I had written an email to them and that I got an email reply from them with several links to different spreadsheets with "safe" food. (Needless to say they are very very generic) for the most common allergies. I advised her that when I told my TA that I had sent the email that she asked if I had filled out the forms and sent them back. I double checked the email that I received I discovered that there wasnt a link to any forms. The person at special diets told me that they only do that if you have a very uncommon allergy and if you have a common allergy then all they do is send out the links. She also told me that the links are updated every month and that the links that they send you dont automatically update. You would have to call every month to get a new link. She stated that the restaurants in the resorts tend to do better with allergies since they have larger and newer kitchens which can accomodate dedicated equipment. I then asked her specifically about the mickey waffles becouse I have seen it posted here that sometimes they will give you Vans frozen waffles as a substitute if you have either a dairy or gluten allery. ( My 3 yo son is obsessed with them since finding out we are going ) She was nice enough to check 3 specific restaurants for me. I had narrowed down the character bfast to Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey. She told me that Crystal Palace has Vans frozen waffles and Chef Mickeys has the GF mix so they can make them fresh. She also check Whispering Canyons since we are staying in the Wilderness Lodge and they also use the GF mix there so he can have real waffles instead of frozen. She also advised me to call back 2 to 3 weeks before we leave to make sure nothing has changed. I hope this is helpful to others becouse I was stressed out since I didnt want to disappoint my son.
