Special Dietary Concerns When Eating At A Character Buffet

I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes and know I have to call ahead of time to speak with the restaurants. So My question is- I was reading the website of ourlaughingplace.com and they always get sugar free dishes and I am wondering what happened at chef mickeys when the chef made them sugar free pancakes and turkey sausage- Did they pay for the meal or the adult buffet price??? How would it work since your only geting one plate of food instead of a variety at a buffet?
I hope I got my pt across and I appreciate your help in this matter

You would still pay the adult price. If you wanted more of the specially prepared food they will make it for you.

I was at Chef Mickey's for dinner and I have Celiac Sprue (no gluten for me) and the chef was wonderful. He told me which items in the buffet had gluten and which did not. Then he offerred to specially make a few other dishes, and desserts just for me. I ate from the buffet plus I had my own personal dishes. He kept coming back and checking on me to make sure that I was satisfied. Great guy! Anyways, I paid the regular buffet price for this special attention. I can't wait to go back to Chef Mickey's - they treat you great there!

Queen of Food allergies chiming in here.

It has been my experience that the chef will come out and tell you what you can and cannot eat. Most chefs that I have also dealt with will go out of their way to make sure that you have something special (I'm thinking specifically of Chef Stephan at WCC in WL who made me the most incredible breakfast). And believe me, they will NOT let you go hungry!

As much as it's a pain to have special dietary needs, at WDW sometimes the treasures the chef's create for you make it all seem OK.
