I hope everyone has a great day with their sweeties......I'm still searching for my Prince Charming and I'm hoping that 2008 might be the year that my knight in shining armour sweeps me off my feet!!!!!!

Hey...David...I too am a Civil Servant.....work for the Canadian Government in the Income Tax department. I only get 20 days vacation but do seem to stretch them into a lot more, I get all the major holidays off and get to work flex hours!!!!!!!

Do you get a day off for the Queen's birthday in June?

Sadly...the Queen's birthday is not a holiday here in Canada...the holidays I get this year are

Jan 1 - New Year's Day
March 21 - Good Friday
March 24 - Easter Monday
May 19 - Victoria Day (also known as the May 2-4 weekend...get it...2 4 as in a case of beer!!!!)
July 1 - Canada Day
Aug 4 - Civic Holiday
Sept 1 - Labour Day
Oct 13 - Thanksgiving
Nov 11 - Remberance Day
Dec 25 - Christmas Day
Dec 26 - Boxing Day

We have a new provincial holiday this coming Monday called "Family Day" but us Federal employees do not get the day off....so while all the malls, grocery stores, banks, etc are closed....we will be at our desks working!!!!! They told us if we wanted to have Family Day off we would have to give up our civic holiday in August.....that wasn't a tough decision...give up a long weekend in the summer for a long weekend in the winter...I think not!!!!

My DW and I just had our Valentines Lunch!
No wait, no kids and $25 with tip!

Also a great idea!

I cooked tonight, didn't feel like fighting the crowds. Had a little champange, a nice bottle of french wine.

24th Dec - Christmas Privilege Day (Varies slightly each year)
25th Dec - Christmas Day
26th Dec - Boxing Day

The Government are exploring another Bank Holiday at the moment - possibly October time.

We're in the Beach Club but have yet to stay there

We love DVC - it's lovely accomodation in the heart of WDW.

I've never heard of match.com so I had a quick look - I didn't realise it's a dating site I thought it may be something to do with football games and tickets

26 days in one go at WDW is our record plus a few days after for jetlag (I get it really bad). As my birthday is 1st of September, my leave year starts at the same time so a large amount of leave for me at the end of August / beginning of September is never a proble.

I was told by a management CM last year that they are thinking of introducing a 28 day ticket for UK visitors as we spend longer in the parks on our holidays (if we're going that far we may as well get value for money). We can already get tickets in the UK that you can't get elsewhere.

We too like longer trips.....7 weeks was our longest (Christmas 2006)....we stayed with Leslie & Joe for most of that trip....I think they were glad to finally see us leave!!!!! We too have annual passes and it is nice to be able to just go to the parks for a few hours at a time....we also like to go shopping around the Orlando area....we have also been known to cheat on Mickey a couple of times

Trying to catch up on things here but first let me say Tracy and Bill home!!!

DVC was one of the best things we've done. Wish we did it sooner and had a gazillion points. But I'm happy with what we have for now. Someday though maybe I can talk Ron into a few more points
