Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

Lynn,

Get Well Greetings to you. My goodness, a cold is NOT supposed to be in the Christmas forecast.

Get Well Soon!

Good Morning Cruisers! Thanks for the well wishes!

It snowed all day yesterday, and was not windy, so the snow actually covers the ground, instead of the normal - bare ground with snow drifts! It was really pretty yesterday watching it fall. The Christmas lights look really good in the snow! I am having a good time this morning watching the sparrows and finches in the bird feeder. I may even find the energy to clean the walks, the snow is really light. The high today will be 14 degrees, but without wind, that should not be bad. Tomorrow the wind is coming back, and although it will be clear and warmer, the forecast is for "blowing snow".

I am still coughing too much for major exercise, the snow shoveling will be enough. Hopefully by the weekend I will be well enough for a long walk, the weather is supposed to be decent, at least warmer and clear, over the weekend.

Have a great day everyone!

Lynn,

Your snow sounds so pretty!

We'll be seeing snow this Saturday... as well as a LOT of Christmas lights!

We're going to Disney World! :santa: It will be a QUICK trip. Our friend David will be coming as well as our nephew Brandon. We will have a mega day on Saturday, trying to hit all of the parks. (Joe has already deemed me borderline NUTS!) To quote him, "Georgie, Have a heart! There are some things you just can't do!" :faint: I just replied, "But, we can try." ::yes::

We'll be picking up Brandon tomorrow night at 10:00. We arrive at 6:00 and will be going to Mouse Beach to finish decorating our trees. David will be baking his world's best chocolate cake while we head back to the airport. I will be playing one of Santa's elves spreading pixie dust everywhere. Saturday is the mega day, with Sunday spent going to see ICE. After Brandon's flight leaves, the weary 3 will be heading to MK for MVMCP.

Tonight is PACKING NIGHT!
We're very tired and worn out, but so very excited to be going! Airborne (orange of course! LOL!) is on the menu! I can't wait to see the castle all decked out in the lights! :wizard:

Good Morning Cruisers!

It stopped snowing, it is partly sunny, and it is warmer, but it has started blowing. You cannot tell that I shoveled walks yesterday – on the other hand, the driveway that was full of snow yesterday is now almost all clear of it! They are saying that I-80 will be closed later today due to blowing snow!

Still coughing – worse yesterday than the day before, hopefully today will be calmer again. The only exercise I got yesterday was to shovel walks – that was easy, snow was really light. I did get a lot of work done on my afghans that I am making for Christmas presents – nearly done one, and just have one more to do! I tested out a “brownies in a jar” recipe that I am planning to use for other Christmas presents – I could not give them out without trying them first!

Georgie - have fun at WDW - you can do all 4 parks in one day, we have done it many times!!! Just hit your favorites in each park, start early.

Have a great day everyone!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far.

Mom and I did something fun and rewarding today....but before I can explain what we did, you need a little background. Every year the section that I work in (about 20 people - changes every year) adopt a family from one of our local shelters. This year we "adopted" a family with 2 young children. We all contribute to our "family" in order to give them a Christmas they otherwise wouldn't have. This year we collected over the amount that we are permitted to spend on the family's gifts so we decided to use the extra money to buy food for one of our local food banks. The local food bank provided us with a list of items that were in need. Mom and I volunteered to go shopping with the $130 that was left over. We reviewed all the grocery ads last night and picked the 3 grocery stores with the best deals. So Mom and I started shopping this morning at 10 am and returned home 4 hours later with all our purchases. We did go over our "budget" by about $30 but Mom and I decided that it was the best $30 that we had spent in a long time. Here's a picture of all the food we were able to purchase.

It was nice to spend the day doing something for those less fortunate.

That's some good karma you've got going there! What a wonderful thing you've done by making someone's holiday a lot brighter. As the Aussies say, "Good on ya, mate."

Good Morning everyone! :wave2:
Bright sunny day here in the heartland.
Decided to take a quick dip in the hot tub. Did not check the outside temp first.:sad2:
Well, it is 8°F (-14° for all you Canadians). No I did not turn into an icicle :cold:

Today has to be better than yesterday. It was cold and windy all day, but only an inch of snow.

Thanks for the heads up on the Wii Cheryl.:thumbsup2 We are good to go now.

Georgie, I saw the Disney lights the other night on the Travel Channel. Samantha Brown. Wish we were there.

Lynn, heal up. Tell Scott you "gotta go where it's warm". Where is Scott anyway?

Hope Peter is healing well too. He's needs his strength to keep those driveways plowed out. I think it will be a cold and snowy winter east of the Mississippi.

Everyone have a great day and a upcoming week. Christmas will be here soon.

But all is well.

Lynn is getting better,

Good Morning Cruisers!

We got another dusting of snow last night, most of it blew to Nebraska! It is cold and windy this morning, but should at least be sunny later, so I will put off my walk until this afternoon.

I went to doc on Friday - bronchitis - so still just doing what I can. Did get a good walk in on Sunday, and a better one yesterday. Still coughing alot, but I feel better than last week.

Georgie - hope you had a great trip to WDW!

Elaine and Margaret - great job!

Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everyone!!!

Lynn... hope you are getting better :goodvibes

Elaine + Margaret... Good Job :thumbsup2

Bob... I missed the travel channel on Disney lights! I would have liked to tape it. :sad2:

We survived our short mega trip. :santa: Left Mouse Beach at 7:30 and in after 12:00 all nights. Great when you're in your 40's, but a little different when you're in the next decade! :rotfl: It was F U N!

We hit 3 parks, all but AK. We did the CP in EPCOT and decided to skip AK due to spenging extra time in DHS to do TOT 2 times instead on 1! (We had a 12 year old with us!) Crowds were there this past weekend, but with me running here and there to get the next fast passes, we saw a lot. Someone even gave me her FP for RnR so I could go on too! We even got to ride in the first car of the monorail on our way to MK. At the end of the night, we got to stay on Thunder Mountain RR to ride the last go around of the night. Weather was great except for Sunday night at MVMCP... downright COLD! I think it was REALLY snowing on Main Street!

CP was WONDERFUL! The castle lights at MK were to die for. :cloud9: But... there was no tree in the MK. We were confused at that! :confused3

We saw ICE on Sunday. Highly recommended. We all found it fascinating. I got stuck on the ice slide. How does one do that!!! :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is enjoying the hustle and bustle of the season. We are sooo far behind, but are happy.:yay:

Georgie - sounds like you had a great time! Any pictures of the castle lights?

Nice here today, windy but should calm down a bit this afternoon. It will be really cold over weekend. I hope all you folks in the East are not hit too badly by the winter storm, it looks really bad on TV.

Have a great day everyone!

Georgie....I'm jealous of your WDW trip...I'm going into withdrawal knowing that we won't be at Disney this year for Christmas!!!!!!

We saw ICE in 2006 and thought it was amazing!!!!!

Bob...check your email..I sent you something I thought you'd get a kick out of!!!!!!

Hi Everyone!!
MD keeps me pretty busy....but Grampa is here now to spell me a bit so I can MAYBE try and keep up with you all!!
It was great to see Georgie, Joe and David (thank him again for the SUPER chocolate cake!!) Didn't get to see Brandon, but he was here and gone in a flash... Auntie Georgie sure kept him going... he's probably still trying to recuperate... or is that GEORGIE that needs to recuperate!!!! :faint:

We're still trying to get "christmas-ized" :santa: It may take a while.. we're too buried in baby stuff!! I have SO much shopping to do yet.. and forget about Christmas cards.. I think I'll go green and send E-cards this year!!

I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. :yay:

Scott: I'm still keeping my eye out for AC stuff... so far nothing has shown up. I hear they are still having private events there at the moment, so maybe in the new year. Your lights look great!

Elaine & Mom.. nice shopping trip! I'm sure the food bank will appreciate it. Your tree looks great too... but where are the Mickey's?????? :scared1:

Good Morning All. Hope everything is good your way.
Life is good here. Just 11 days until santa. Woo Hoo.
Almost done with all of our christmas stuff. A few odds and ends to do.
Just got a card from Buffalo.:confused3 Not sure who I know there. Guess I better open it.
Bob...check your email..I sent you something I thought you'd get a kick out of!!!!!!
Thanks Kid, that was good.
Thanks also you Cheryl for the white christmas and god/dog story.

Peter and Jenn...hope you aren't all covered in ice. Wow.
We had that back in 91. No electricity for 3 days.

Lynn, hope you are feeling better. I think the winds sent that stuff here.

Georgie, glad you and Joe had such a good time. We need to make it to Mouse Beach one day.

And Les.....

Oh well, everyone have a good day.

Just got a card from Buffalo.:confused3 Not sure who I know there. Guess I better open it.

Hey Bob....if it's in a red envelope with a US Mickey stamp and a Canadian return address it's okay to open it....I wanted Mickey stamps and we don't have them in Canada so we took a trip to Buffalo to mail our cards....yes...we are crazy but I wanted Disney stamps for our Disney cards!!!!

Elaine & Mom.. nice shopping trip! I'm sure the food bank will appreciate it. Your tree looks great too... but where are the Mickey's?????? :scared1:

Yes...I heard the food bank was very thankful....another division in our office was also having a food drive so we took all our purchases to them and added it to their "collection"....I heard that they were able to fill the back of a pickup truck with all the food that was collected!!!!!

Leslie....you have to look closely....there are 4 gold Mickey's on the tree....they are our "hidden" Mickeys!!!! we'll have to pick up some red Mickey ornaments in May for next year's tree.
