Special 9/1/08 Cruise Continued - Part 3

Last weekend, DVC offered 20 minute tours every 20 minutes on Sunday, August 31st. There is no charge to tour the Cinderella Suite. They limited you to 5 people per family, 10 per spot. It filled up with in about 24 hours. I couldn't believe how fast! They have pulled the link off the members website since there are no openings left. Has anyone ever heard of them doing this before? We are pretty new to DVC so I was just curious. Free anything just doesn't fit the Disney pattern!;)

I hate the cold..love the US south..send me postcard :rotfl:

Alaska's summer is brief, with the peak visitor season lasting only eight weeks, from mid-June to mid-August. June tends to be dry, but in the north and a high elevations the snow doesn't melt until late in the month. Night time temperatures can be cool. August is the wettest of the summer months, although warmer than June. July is the driest and warmest month of the summer, The Southcentral climate (Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula and the surrounding area) boasts relatively mild summers (highs near 70). The Interior climate (Fairbanks and Denali) has warm summers (highs in the 90s). The climate of the Inside Passage, where most of the cruise ships go, is usually warm and damp (summer highs in the 60s and 70s). Coastal areas have more moderate temperatures than inland areas as well as more precipitation. Daily temperature fluctuations are wider inland.

Hi Everyone

Time is almost up for name badges. So if you're a lurker, it's now or never.

Special thanks goes to all on this thread who donated to the Arthritis Ride. As of today, I've set a new personal rundraising record with over $10,700 raised!

Had a great day on the bike today - did a 101 mile ride. It went very well except for one flat tire. I hate getting flats.

This is the first that I have known of anything like this being offered. I have been wondering the reason--just because or maybe future stays on points or something else. Who knows, not me for sure, but I sure appreciate the opportunity. :goodvibes

Let's see if I can get this right...

What we want is rain,
enough to flood some unprepared businesses (who can buy your husbands equipment)
but not enough to do any real damage to the homes in the area,
not enough wind to toss the lawn furniture in the pool,
and not enough to have school cancelled for the day,
and not enough to make school pick-up miserable,
but enough to releive the bad weather mojo...

How did I do?

pretty close - don't need any flooding for the business - just enough to bring the water table up so they need to take some water out of the ground.... so yeah i guess a flood is what it would take here in tampa...if you could arrange that for me it would be awesome... especially if you could figure out what to do with the kids during PE when it is raining....

Looks fairly close to my request!
DH works for a large auto company-a little water and hail damage is good for business. Believe me, the car business needs all the "help" it can get right now.

No damage to homes in the area please. Although it would help construction, I really want to keep that homeowners' insurance!

I'd like school cancelled in Pinellas. It would be bedlam for a severe weather dismissal on day one.:scared1:

I have no idea how to post the image here so check out this link. Looks like we're in the center of a bullseye. It could always be worse though. We're lucky it's only a cat 1.

i have to agree - i'd rather have them cancel school than have to pick up mid day - in fact just cancel monday and tuesday so i don't have to go into work.

...and then hubby gets some extra money for me to spend on the boat and i have some more time to finishe the 119 FE gifts i have been putting off for too long and start packign and finish my door signs and my FE and figure out how to do a scarpbook in a grass skirt with my coconut bra on while touring the staterooms and playing volleyball - is the volleyball game in the Roy Disney suite - oh yeah i think my husband scheduled me a massage one day - wonder if i can wear a coconut bra for the massage and oh forget it - this cruise is just going to be too much fun.....can't wait to see you guys! although i don't know what any of you look like - except for the guys in the grass skirt -

speaking of grass skirts - anyone know where to find a grass skirt for a guy who is 6'9" and 300ish pounds!!

I'm in St. Petersburg in an A evacuation zone - I'm not to worried if it stays a cat 1 or lower - any higher and I'm off to Disney - my favorite hurricane evacuation spot.

Try the party stores i.e. Party city Hobby lobby, Michaels. Since I a father size, if you get a grass table skirt, you can wrap twice or just jut off what you don't need, and it is fuller than the original
Good Luck.

We're non evacuation (thinking 16 ft) on the ridge in the middle of the county. My hurricane roof, windows and doors make my limit a cat 3. Any 3 or above and we're on the first plane anywhere!

Is everyone up because of tonight's AMAZING swimming?

The swimming and the track. Too bad Bolt let up. It would have been a faster time if he stayed focused.

I have no idea what cat my house can withstand - built in 1964 - I don't think its ever flooded - I do have 2 HUGE pine trees near the front of my house - If the wind gets high enough I would be suprised if they don't come down - hopefully not on my roof - Fellow associates at work have asked if I was going to evacuate - the 2 times (over a 10 year period) I did - it followed me. Hmmm! I wonder if they would be willing to foot my Disney getaway? ;) I wouldn't mind a little pre-cruise vacation

I spent today pulling several of our disney character tee shirts out of the drawers so that I don't have to launder them again prior to the cruise (my first real nod toward packing). :laundy: I also started thinking about the day before and the day after the cruise which we will spend at the World without park tix. Not that I can think of no other ways to spend a day on property!!!
We were originally going to fly home on the 6th after disembarking but my 12 year old son said to his father and me, "But when are we going to the HoopDeDoo dinner? It isn't a Disney vacation without HoopDeDoo, Mom!" This kiddo has created a "family tradition" by eating record amounts of food every time we visit Florida, at the HoopDeDoo. The first time we took him he was in the middle of a killer early puberty growth spurt and he ate so much the waiter jokingly asked him if he was aware that there was also a show going on!!!! We aren't entirely sure he did know.
Anyway, my husband and I figured we could stay another night/day and make it happen so we are going to the 7:15 HoopDeDoo on the 6th and staying at All Star Movies that night. We plan to go to Typhoon Lagoon on the 7th, because somehow we have always visited when it is closed!!!! So, we've never been there. We absolutely love Blizzard Beach, though.

I am definitely too excited to sleep. I told my husband and he said, "Not me. I can sleep."
The Problem is I married out of my faith (that of Disney Magic, I mean).:worship:

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone, and I am looking forward to adding DCL to the list of Disney Vacations I have experienced!!!!
Perhaps Adventures By Disney next???:thumbsup2

the swimming and track have been awesome - just wish Dara could have pulled it out for one more gold for the night... she is awesome...

the scariest part is that they say that Bolt is BETTER at the 200!

anyone else see that the TS is getting stronger after going over Hispanola and could be a hurricane before hitting cuba now... gotta get the grass skirt now for our pre-cruise-hurricane party...everyone always comes to our house when there is a hurricane - not sure why - we still always lose power - but i guess we know how to have fun with no electricity - last time we watched movies on a little tv via an extension cord plugged into my husband's truck = everyone was over b/c we were the only ones with any entertainment...

let's all throw some pixie dust up and hope we don't have to deal with that scenario - i have to many FE gifts to finish to worry about hurricanes...
