:woohoo: In case anyone was interested in a SPH stateroom, we just cancelled our TWO Secret Porthole Staterooms 5024 and 5022 (connecting) and booked a cat. 3 for this cruise. Have a MAGICal day everyone!

Thanks for the info!:grouphug: My sister is calling as I type.:hyper: Did you pick a different cruise or different cabins? pixiedust:

Sure, we'll be in on the stateroom tour! I tried to get a look at the room when we were disembarking, but the door was shut and the stateroom attendant was not in sight.

Henry was 6 months on the cruise and he did really well. Both kids went to Flounder's Reef 4 times and liked it. Madison was 2 days shy of her 3rd birthday so she was eligible for a trial in the Club. She did the trial and failed so the Reef it was! Honestly, she liked the Club a lot, but the way they did the observation was to have me 'disappear' without telling her I was leaving, so she turned around and I was gone and she freaked out and just started crying "Mommy!" until she found me. They said we could try again, but she was terrified of being alone in the Club after that so we gave up. We took her to the activities she wanted to attend, but we had to stay with her as "visitors".

My only complaint was about the set up of the room, hence why we are going much bigger on this cruise. We were in a midship Cat 3 when our daughter was 3 months old and loved it, but we didn't want to spend that kind of money on our 7 night Eastern and ended up kinda sorry that we didn't. The big problem I think is just that my son is a very fussy sleeper. He sleeps well in that he goes to bed at 6:30pm, but he does not like light or noise. Well the only place to put the pack n play was next to the couch/verandah door. Well the tv is in that half of the room too. So it meant that once he went to bed we were trapped with nothing to do.

What ended up happening was that we'd just stick him in the stroller and take him wherever we wanted to go on the ship, but then it meant he woke up a lot, got grouchy, etc. The nights we had him in Flounder's he'd sleep there without a problem but would sorta wake up when we'd pick him up. So if you have a sensitive sleeper then I'd try to think of a way to shield the pack n play from the light of the tv.

And Flounder's had pretty decent daytime hours and they list excursions you can do that are compatible with Flounder's times. I brought home the sheet but even though we've been back a week I haven't found it yet, but when I do I'll let you know what the general port hours were. They were also really empty our whole cruise so we could pretty much drop them off anytime we wanted without a problem. Hopefully next September will be like that too, though I have a feeling it won't based on the dates.

Thanks for the info. I am still debating if I should get off the boat I really do not think it would be a problem. I wanted to go to the spa in Nassau, but if something went wrong then I would be out all of the money. Disney's treatments on the ship are so much shorter and they do not have a pool etc. in the spa area. ( I may be wrong) I just do not know what to do. I have the baby schedules from 8-10 every night while I eat dinner so the sleeping should be OK. Any other tips you think of owuld be great. I'm glad you rebooked! Our kiddos will be in the same clubs on this cruise.:cutie:

We are still on this cruise, just in a cat. 3. DH crunched the numbers and found the cat. 3's are a great deal on this cruise, not in general just compared to other Disney cruises. Also, we were spoiled from our first cruise, cat. 4, and wanted a verandah again.

Sorry, you didn't get the SPH staterooms. At least we kept them in the DISboards family.

 I guess I batted my eyelashes at DH enough this past weekend, with the "pretty please" puppy dogs eyes, to get the cat. 3 upgrade. Seriously, we watched the DCL show from the Travel Channel (DH DVRd it, so we have it for life!) for the umpteenth time this past weekend. We both looked at each other half-way through the show and said who are we kidding, we want a verandah again. DH was intending to book a cat. 4 (we are a family of 5), but out of curiousity he priced a cat. 3 and felt is was well worth the extra $$$$. The rest is history. . .

Wow, you guys move so fast! I was only gone about an hour and there's already practically a page!

Jennifer - The "value" so to speak was our reasoning for getting the Cat 2. We paid roughly as much for our Cat 6 on the 7 night as we are for the Cat 2 on the 5 night. Granted it is 2 fewer nights, but comparatively it's a good deal. We're guessing our son will be over his perfect sleep condition issues by the time of the cruise, since he'll be 2yo, but in the even he's not, the 2nd bedroom doesn't have any windows (from what I can see on the floor plan anyway) so it should be perfect for him. My daughter can sleep anywhere so if it were just her we wouldn't care, but my son is picky. Weird cause he's all about sleep, loves his naps, looks forward to bedtime, whereas she hates to go to bed and hasn't napped since she turned 2yo, but once she's out, she's out.

Good luck with the potty training, btw. My son is an August baby too, he was born on the 4th. I doubt he'll be potty trained by the cruise though as he'll be just under 25 months. Madison trained at 25 months but I don't think I'll have that luck twice!

We also booked a 4 night for this June while on board last month, and we got a Cat 8 (the highest available for our party size) and we're already dreading the sleep issues again.

Tammy - Good score on the secret portholes!!

Dvcnewgirl - Ya know, I share your fear. On another thread about the Med cruises someone asked about leaving kids in the clubs for the long excursions (some of them are 10+ hours!!) and I said that while I know it's safe I can't do it cause I'd be afraid something would happen and I'd miss the excursion. Or if I went I'd be thinking something might happen and they couldn't page me.

We were only paged twice by the Reef, once cause Henry was "gristling" and they couldn't calm him down and the 2nd time cause he fell asleep before I could nurse him and I didn't have a bottle pumped so I told them he might wake up hungry. For the gristling page, we stopped by the Reef and I put Henry to sleep (guess he just wanted Mommy) and the 2nd page they said he was awake but happy, but wanted to let me know in case I wanted to come in and nurse him.

Of course, he was 6 months, much different than 2yo, but still, it's hard to say it'll all work out and have a lot of money riding on it, ya know?

My son will be 8 months in May when we go. That is why I am begging for tips!:teeth: I want it to go as smooth as possible!::yes:: Im leaning towards going to the spa on the ship. My husband and I just want individual massages but they are at really weird hours. We had to book a couples massage to get a decent time. I'm sure it will be fine. We both just want to relax and get a good massage. I guess I will stay on the ship and not worry.:scared:

Congrats!!! You'll LOVE the Cat 3. It is so much nicer than the cat 4. We had adjoining Cat 3/Cat 4 one cruise and they are so much different.

There's just one drawback. Once you sail in a Cat 3, it's really, really, really hard to sail in anything other than a suite!

Sue

Well, my husband informed me today that he can't make the cruise because of work. I'm still going but I'll be giving up the Cat 10 SPH rooms as I don't want to pay a single supplement for my room.
So far, I've been through about half a dozen rooms ( 1 cat 12, 2 cat 12s, 2 cat 11s deck 7 aft, and now 2 cat 10s) If I keep this up I'll be in the Walt Suite! ;)

:beach: That's what I told my husband! Once, you get me in a Cat. 3, we may never go back to a Cat. 4. He jokes about booking the Walt and Roy Suites. Out of curiousity on the price, DH did inquire about any Cat. 1 openings for 2007 or 2008. However, they were all booked. DH is the one who started our DCL fascination. He was the one who booked our first cruise last November as a "surprise" for our 10th Anniversary. :cool1: He knew I wanted to go away, but bring the kids too. DCL offered the best of both worlds. Yes, I married a romantic.

:worried: I'm sorry you won't be able to use the SPH Staterooms. However, do you have any other family members with teenagers to share the stateroom with your son to off-set the cost? Also, maybe a Sister or an Aunt to share your stateroom? Just an idea.

After this we are back to cat 13 lifeboat suites..
