Speaking With Dollars DOES Work !

I think they should still have resort specific and park specific merchandise as well. My family & I like to get something that represents a special part of our trip. If the items sold fit all the resorts & parks, it will eliminate our ability to chose the one special memory at a certain resort or park. I know when I tell my husband this he'll be really annoyed. Definitely should find out a way to contact to the company.

Here's a link to their contact page:

Maybe someone could start a thread concerning the lack of both resort and park specific merchandise. We could bombard them with emails.

Here's to hoping the new bun research isn't limited to burgers. Casey's anyone? LOL

:sad2: DH talked about Casey's buns for a full year after having to eat a wheat bun. He banned them. Then last trip we got one of the hard but white buns---dang, can't we just get a plain AMerican bun, not some gormet Hoagie roll.

As a very shapely plus sized female, I have purchased only one T-Shirt form Disney in the 11 trips we have made. It was a Kidani shirt in a XXL form Johari. I wore it as a night shirt during our trip. Got it home washed it and it no longer fits. The material of the T-shirts is so thin that even if I was a bean pole, I wouldn't wear. And unless you are a bean pole without a muffin top certain individuals should not wear thin, tight fitting garments. I look at guests and myself and can tell wear the weight is---I don't actually want to visualize it through the shirt. I wish if they didn't do resort specific items, that they at least would get t-shirts in a fabric that wasn't invisible when it was stretched ever so slightly.

I am also also tired of them not offering a few items in 3X and larger for DH and my BIL. We have seen a few at the t-shirt place near Art of Disney. I mean we ALL would like a t-shirt. Every year DH and I comb the racks at POTC and Star Tours for perhaps the slight chance one might exist. For the last three years we have been disappointed. :sad2:

Sorry for the rant.

(as an aside DH and I are both going to the local gym so we can walk and enjoy the trip fromt he bus to the gate--endurance speaks volumes when you step off a bus)

TOTALLY agree w/ the PPs about the souveniers/merch! We LOVE to shop at WDW, but find ourselves going home w/ far, far less now. :guilty:

This is definitely us. I needed to purchase a suitcase to bring home all the park and resort specific things we got on our first trip. Now, not so much. Especially resort specific for us... DD couldn't find a pin for POFQ when we were there.

I wish we had a hi-5 icon! :thumbsup2 From what CMs tell me, the larger sizes go FAST when they are there. I was told on the cruises too to be sure I hit the stores up right away to get the larger sizes. Sadly, they had almost nothing when I went. :guilty: Not that we want to be pooh-sized but it is what it is. I like roomy clothes thank you very much :) and 3 X means I'm not having to show my chub to everyone which is how I like it. I liked your description or yourself BTW. :goodvibes

Last time we went down, we packed an uber huge travel-grade duffel to be able to pack stuff to come home in and never needed it! :( That was a bummer.

Ok, this totally hits a nerve with me...we love to stay at different resorts and collect pins when we stay. I was really annoyed to find that POFQ and POR have the same pin. Come on, there's got to be enough pin sales to separate out the two. It's the same way with the All Star resorts. They are all lumped into one pin as well. :sad2:

As for the original topic, Disney has really stepped up their variety and quality of salads. Some of them are very delicious. I'd take one of them over an awful Disney burger any day...and "formulation"? That right there is trouble...what happened to 100% beef. Period. ;)

. . . I hate the idea of a "One Disney" . . .

1) Do not look for it to change.
2) Disney is making more profits due to this.
. . . cheaper to order large volume son one type of souvenir
. . . cheaper to order one type of food item
. . . instead of having different varieties of each
3) Meg Crofton got promoted, this being one of the stated reasons. *
4) Do you think she will change her mind ?
5) So, look forward to more of the same . . .
. . . communized foods in multiple locations
. . . less unique food items
. . . common souvenirs between resorts
. . . common souvenirs between parks
. . . fewer specialized and unique souvenirs per park or resort

* "One Disney" carried throughout parks and resorts.

Blah! :sad2:

I see people talking about the resort-specific merchandise. Apparently, there were complaints, because when we were there last month, we saw resort-specific merchandise at:

1. Grand Floridian
2. Boardwalk
3. Animal Kingdom Lodge
4. Contemporary

According to a CM from the Beach Club, there will be new resort-specific merchandise there around October or so. It's slowly being re-introduced, but apparently it looks like at only the deluxe resorts.

Did I miss any (other than the character ones? I thought I'd spare you guys...a little ;) )

Miss the resort merchandise as well and noted so on my check out survery at Beach Club last week.

In the past we had gotten a CBR beach towel back in 96 that literally held up for about 10 years. It was a cool souvie.

On a 2002 trip to Wilderness Lodge I got a teeshirt and windbreaker that were specific. Still love those two items.

We have been to many resorts since and do not have any shirts or anything to show for it. I thought we had just overlooked it on the the other trips but on this one I really noticed that it was cuz nothing existed! Boo!

I did get the Beach Club pin and that was it. I was glad to get that though.

We will be back onsite in October and are staying at POR. Hoping they have something for that resort but I doubt it being a moderate. :headache:

I just wanted to give my 2 cents...

I truly love Disney. I am saddened and frustrated, maybe a bit angry when I think of all the changes (not for the better) that has occurred at my favorite place on earth.

The BLAH, BLAH Boring Park/Resort merchandise. It is very sad to see how everything is available everywhere. However, there is one good thing that has come out of this - the lack of argument here on the Dis about refillable mugs. Now all mugs are refillable everywhere.

The homogenized Disney food. I really miss the themed/specific items that were available at certain restaurants. The food is the same basically everywhere at WDW. :mad:I really hate that they are trying to police what I eat or don't eat...ie...the whole wheat buns and the "healthy" hot dogs at Casey's. I am all for healthy choices. But what we need is choices and encourage chefs to be creative and let their imaginations soar! I bet revenue goes up!

I hate that foreigners receive awesome packages and discounts when those here at home do not. What is up with that? :confused3

Slowly but surely the magic is being taken away. Prices keep going up at the resorts and for tickets. Customer service is going downhill. Please, Please, Please give me back my wonderful, magical, pixie dusted Disney World. :goodvibes

I asked to join the FB page. Great idea! :thumbsup2

Me too! The restaurant in Adventureland used to serve a Polynesian burger. There was sweet and sour sauce and soy sauce on the tables.. I ate one when I took my son to Disney World, aka, the Magic Kingdom in 1979. All of the restaurants had food geared to their areas. Now you get mystery meat on a crumbling bun.

We didn't get the DDP on this year's trip, because all the food is the same everywhere. It's tough to find something different, and I feel as if so many of the TS restaurants just aren't worth it anymore. The kids meals are the worst -- small portions and inferior in quality to the adult foods. We took breakfast food and snacks from home. DD8 and I shared a lot of our CS meals (adult meals). I spent considerably less on food than I usually do.

We bought barely any merchandise at all. DD got a stuffed Yeti at Everest, and a couple other small things at AK. That's it. I didn't spend nearly as much as I usually do on park merchandise and souvenirs.

Next year we're considering a US/IOA & beach vacation instead of Disney. I still love Disney World, and we'll go back, if not next year then the year after, but for the first time in many years I'm considering spending my vacation dollars elsewhere. :scared1:

That is great news!! I took 2 trips this spring/early summer and the burgs were terrible. Even McD's dollar menu burgers are way better than the burgs at WDW!! Im excited for our next trip, hoping for better burgers.

As for the merchandise... it kept me from buying too much, thats for sure!! But yes, it would be nice to have more specialized stuff again.

I was at Pecos back in June and the buns were defanitely better, still wheat but not crumbly and dry like before.. I swear I always thought the buns were old or something..

I too wish there was more resort specific merchandise. I have a print that has mickey and minnie on the beach looking at Cinderella castle and the sand bucket has the Poly logo on it, just adore it! Have a small plastic tiki christmas ornament and Also have the print of the entrance walk way at the Poly that I adore as well, checked the Poly in June hoping for another print but nothing new.. Id love to get a print of the volcano pool or the inside of GCH and the waterfall and a few Poly beach towels..
