I just saw the post about the colorful sharpie markers and was reminded. I was on the 12/15 sailing on the Dream. I bought the colorful markers. When my pillow cases were returned They were signed in dried out black marker. I tried not to be disappointed because I did not want my kids to notice. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Wow that's horrible! I am planning on doing this for the kids and I have sharpies to hand in with them. I know it's a free service and very generous of the crew to do them. But honestly I'd say something to them if I received them back in such poor condition.

I should have. It was the last night and I had so much to do it slipped my mind..

Yep, I sent in 24 colorful sharpies and got photo mats back with 6 signatures in black and no sharpies back. Like you, I didn't want to disappoint the children or put a damper on things so I didn't say a word.

WOW this has never happened to us, we normally turn in t-shirts to be signed with a pack of markers. We assume we won't get the markers back but that they will use them.

When we were on the Dream in the spring they didn't even want the markers but they noted on the sheet multi color.

I totally would have complained espically if I didn't get my markers back...

Yep, I did not get my markers back. They noted on the sheet how many markers I turned in.

Sorry you guys didn't get colorful souvenirs and your markers didn't come home.

We got our markers back. (Six colored markers with each pillow case).

When I dropped them off, I had them in a big 2-gallon zip-loc-bag. Don't know if that helped or not.

I'm including markers with mine. Not really caring if I get the markers back or not. Just want them to put a bit of effort into making them look nice. If they aren't going to do it as nice as I know they can then then can just return it to me with no signatures at all. I would hate for them to ruin really lovely pillowcases.

The ships must have a lot of colorful sharpies in their crew areas :lmao::lmao:

I turned in a photo matt on the Wonder, I taped my large pack of sharpies to the matt with my room number. I did get the matt back, they did a beautiful job with the signatures and a bunch of them. I did not get the sharpies back and I was disappointed. I called Guest Services to see if they had been left there and they were not. They did give me a $10 OBC for the missing sharpies.

Ours were in the XXL ziplock storage bag, with the markers. No problem getting them back.

done this twice, got my markers back both times. it may be because i sent fabric markers and not sharpies, not sure.

this may be a silly question but where do you find fabric markers and what do the cost?

We just picked up a silver metallic fabric marker (for dark material) at Michaels (in the t-shirt aisle, not with the other paint - at my store). The individual pen was under $3. You can get multi packs of various colors for around $10 - all depending on brand, # in package, etc.

I've gotten them at JoAnn's Fabric in the past, as well. I prefer to get the kind that do not need heat to set. :thumbsup2

We got our markers back but they only used the black sharpie. And the signatures looked terrible. The mat is not usable. Our first mat we did in March looks great as do the pillowcases we did in the past, on both the Wonder and thr Magic. Not sure why there seems to be an issue now. This was on the 12/18 Wonder.

yes, micheals is where i got them but joannes does sell them as well. i believe you can even get them at walmart. i prefer them as you can wash the pillow cases without any worry. even if your case is only for display they still need to be washed at some point. they also come in about 20 colours. lots to pick from so if your going to match it with a room theme your set.

OK, what people are talking about is that you can take 2 items per cabin to Guest Services to be signed by the characters. You complete a form saying who you want to sign it (princesses, all available, classic characters, etc) and giving any other details. You can take anything--t-shirts, pillowcases, photo mats, hats, vinylmations, etc. IF you send markers with your items, they are supposed to be signed in your markers. If you don't send markers, they will be signed in black sharpie.

My guess is that in the process, OP's markers got separated from her items. It is helpful to write on the form "Colored markers enclosed" or something like that and to package the items and markers together.

As to how many character signatures you get--it varies with the length of your cruise and the number of items that are turned in to be signed. As noted, it is free and in my experience, they do make a serious effort to meet your specifications.

Sorry that OP's items weren't what she wanted/expected. I'm just guessing the package didn't get to the characters intact.

Thank you! That's good to know and sounds awesome!

When we went on our cruise, I was all prepared with a pillow case. Told my MIL about it and she brought a photo mat. We went to guest services, filled out the forms EXACTLY the same, included a bag of candy as well...my pillow case only had the fab five, her photo mat was awesome...everyone's signatures were on it! I ended up photocopying it and framed it with pics from the cruise!

On our recent Dream sailing I turned in a photo mat and black sharpies, along with some candy and had a beautifully signed photo mat delivered to our stateroom the last night. They did return our sharpies too. My only problem was completely MY fault. I neglected to draw arrows on the back of the photo mat stating which way I wanted the photos to go. The way they signed it I have very few pictures that will fit in the mat, but ended up finding one, so no worries!! Sorry you had so much trouble. Here is our photo mat.
