Do you bring your lunch to work? Grab something there? Go out for lunch daily? Not eat lunch at all?

When I worked, I didn't eat lunch as it always made me too sleepy to finish out the day.. I had my coffee (never leave home without it - LOL) - and usually some kind of snack (a piece of fruit or some cookies/crackers) - but that was it for me..

How about you?

I'm a school nurse; my clinic is directly across from the cafeteria. That might sound like a great thing. The smells that come out of there are pretty good. But the food is awful--think: truck stop vending machine food. NO WAY am I eating that stuff! So I bring my little lunch box, sandwich usually, or apples and peanut butter, just enough to get me through to 2:30--quittin' time!

For a couple of years I worked in a school cafeteria - cooking and serving the food - so I know all about how "deceiving" the smells can be.. LOL..

A little OT - but how is Christian? Did you try the Boost or Ensure? Hope he's doing better..:goodvibes

:goodvibes He's doing pretty good. We tried both Ensure and Boost, and also Carnation Instant Breakfast. He seems to like all three. I like the taste of the Boost, myself, and it sure is easy to carry with us in a little cooler. Christian is LOVING having extra snacks, ice cream, pudding, PBJs. I swear that boy has a hollow leg, maybe two! I have to take him back to the ped in about 10 days for a re-weigh.

I have been making lunches for a few decades now. :rotfl: I made my kids lunches for all their school years and I am still making them for myself and DH to take to work. I always make them the night before.
My work lunch today consisted of:
Peanut butter and jelly on wheat bread, greek pomegranate yougurt, an apple and some lemon seltzer. I rarley buy lunch... too expensive, usually unhealthy and it makes me feel heavy instead of refreshed.

Glad to hear it! :thumbsup2 I just love the vanilla Boost - wish I could buy it by the gallon like milk..LOL..:goodvibes

when i worked outside my home, i usually brought lunch from home, as did my co-workers. there were four of us in our little office, and we normally ate together. every couple of weeks or so, we'd go out together, or all go out and get what we wanted, and bring it back to the office and eat.

I buy lunch about 4 times a week...I may bring lunch one day but usually we all go out to lunch together.

I ate at work. I worked in the high school cafeteria. Our food was actually really good!

We have a huge cafeteria at work, there are pasta, sandwich and pizza stations, plus a grill and daily entree specials and a salad bar. We even have sushi and Indian food on certain days of the week. More often than not I get something there from the salad bar or something from the pasta station. They have a good amount of healthy specials, so there are a lot of healthy options to eat, not just unhealthy stuff. It is all reasonably priced too.

Every once and awhile I'll bring in leftovers.

I bring my lunch most days. Sometimes my DH comes and takes me to lunch, like today he did. I bring mostly snack foods, fruit, cheeses, crackers, etc. to eat smaller "meals" throughout the day. I will bring soup during the cold weather though.

I will be this school year. I am the manager of an elem. school cafeteria but I am on low carb so I will bring my lunch this year. It will be very hard because we have excellent food!

Yeah, nothing low carb about school food

I've never had a job at a place with a cafeteria. I have always made a lunch.

I eat lunch at work every day. I used to go out almost every day but after totaling up what I was spending a month on food ($300 on food out and groceries for one person) I now make food to take to work. I do go out once or twice a month still but that's usually just for a coffee from Starbuck's or smoothie from somewhere.

I also HATE to eat in our lunchroom as we have the following people at my workplace (and I've noticed almost every workplace has them):

1) The receptionist that doesn't care if you're at lunch and will constantly tell you that you have phone calls
2) The person who has to ask you what you're having for lunch and then comment if they do or don't like that, an experience they had with that food item once, something they're allergic to, if their husband does/doesn't like what you're eating, etc.
3) The person who will talk/gossip to you through the entire lunch break whether you are reading, playing Scrabble on your iTouch, etc.

I make my lunch something I can just take out to my car. I get an hour-ish (we don't have set lunch breaks) so I love to take my lunch out, drive to a pretty shaded place and read, play Scrabble, or sometimes take a nap. Lately a lot of my lunches have been wraps that I make the morning of or at work and wrap in plastic wrap and then I have fruit in a container (cherries and watermelon lately).

I worked in a bakery so I usually grabbed something from there. We were so busy we never actually had a REAL lunch break. It was just eating on the run.

I always pack DH's lunches for work. He used to eat out every day until I finally got it through to him it was costing us a lot of money. He usually ends up with leftovers(which he loves) or a couple of snadwiches and some sort of fruit or veggie to snack on.

DS still has another year before he starts kindergarten, but I plan on packing all of his lunches as well. I can still remember begging for packed lunches and DMom insisting it was better to eat a nice, warm lunch than an old sandwich...I should have brought the mystery meat home a few times for her to try:lmao:

I usually bring leftovers for lunch along with a few healthy snacks to have throughout the day. However, since I hurt my back this week, I've been too sore to stand and cook after working all day so DH and DD have been on dinner duty. So far, we've had BLT's, egg salad sandwiches, and chili dogs. :lmao: I think everyone is ready for me to go back to making dinner. I took some salmon out to defrost for tonight. :thumbsup2

We have two cafeterias and a pretty quick cafe across the street so I'll grab something from one of them again today.

I work from home a couple of days a week so those aren't an issue. On the days I go to my office, I usually bring a lunch. We have a refrigerator and microwave and toaster oven so I can bring frozen dinners, sandwich stuff, etc. Or leftovers if I have them. We usually have a jar of peanut butter around and some people bring bread so our emergency fall back is a peanut butter sandwich. And canned soup - most of us have a stash of canned soup in our cubes.

When I am there on Friday, I order out with the rest of the office. We just have something delivered or one person will go out and pick up lunch. We're a small group so we all eat together on Friday. Take a longer break and chat for a while when we are done eating.

I usually bring my lunch. I have eaten lunch with the same 2 women for 15 years. We watch All My Children on our littel tv we set up in the break room. We do go out once or twice a month though.

lol!

I still remember my first day of 1st grade. I got my lunch in the school cafeteria and couldn't even eat it because it was so gross. I went home and told my mom that I wanted to take my lunch, so that's what I did from 1-6 grades. My lunches were usually healthy too.

Now, when I'm working, I usually buy my lunch. It is expensive, but it's rare that anything is cooked at home. My dad and I usually eat at different times since I never know when I can cook because he sometimes goes out to shoot pool at night. So there's usually no leftovers and everything else is single meals.

Luckily though, I work in the downtown area of my city and there's quite a few places. Some of them aren't overly unhealthy either. :)
