I just got back the framed print I ordered of The Myrtles otherwise known as the "Most Haunted House in America" it is simply a gorgeous print. Here is a picture of it,

Here is the official websight,

The Myrtles

So has anyone actually visited here? I would love too!

My mom and her "Ya-Yas" did a plantation tour last summer - it included The Myrtles, Oak Alley (Louis's house in the film Interview With A Vampire), and many other plantations that I can't remember off the top of my head. She bought a gift shop pic of one of The Myrtles's ghosts and absolutely loved the place.

IIt looks like a great place to visit. A beautiful print, too....:D

We did the Myrtles Haunted Ghost tour last year around Halloween. Didnt see anything though and was kinda of disapointed. They did show us an array of photos taken at the plantation that seemed to have orbs and some ghostly images in it. I think if you go to ghosts.org there may be some photos from the Myrtles there.

PS.. we're thinking of going to do a New Orleans Haunted Walking tour this weekend!

i remember hearing about this place on the travel channel or something, but i can't remember WHY it's considered haunted. does anyone know the story?

One of the most famous ghosts there is Chloe. She was a slave inside the main house. As the story goes, on day she was caught evesdropping on the man of the house and to pay, he chopped her ear off. Well to get back on the good graces of the household, she baked a cake for the children. Except the cake was laced with poison. It was her intent to mend the children back to health. But when the children ate the cake, they naturally fell ill but to Chloe's dismay they died. I beleive Chloe was then hung for her crimes.

Another of the ghosts is a man who was allegedly shot outside the Myrtles. He stumbled into the house and headed up the stairs, when he died on the 13th step or so. Apparently you can hear someone running up the steps at night then you hear a loud crash.

I've heard some people say that stay there, that at night Chloe will come in and tuck people into bed, or if women leave earrings lying around, she'll steal one of them (she only has one ear now).

creepy...

i don't like to be scared...i normally don't watch scary movies or go to haunted houses. but i'll watch those scary places or hotels or whatever shows so that i know where NOT to stay when i travel somewhere!!

some of the stories are really interesting though...but i wouldn't want to stay in any of these places...

I've seen The Myrtles on Travel Channel's "Haunted Hotels." I'd love to go there someday! I don't know about staying overnight, but a tour would be nice!

It's Haunted Travels Week on the Travel Channel right now. Watched some episodes of the haunted Hotels last night.

Beauty- I love the pic, I bet it goes beautifully with the other plantation pics you already have!

It's a beautiful house! I saw it on Travel Channel:eek:

I've stayed at the Myrtles twice, once in an outdoor garden room and once in one of the rooms in the house itself. We were very comfortable both times but to enjoy the interesting atmosphere I recommend a room in the house itself.

Nothing happened to us which I've always blamed a little on my husband's snoring ;) but many of the other patrons claimed that items in their rooms were moved and one lady actually lost an article of clothing that she had hanging in the closet but it was found back in the same place later.

I have plans to stay with three friends at the Myrtles this Spring (without a snorer!) even though it is rather pricey nowadays. One bit of info: only two persons are allowed to stay in each room, a fire code requirement per the manager. A few of the rooms have bathrooms, a few require one to walk through the hall.

Here is a link to their website again. Notice the photograph of Chloe, the most well-known of the several ghosts. http://www.myrtlesplantation.com/
