Ok all this will probably get moved I really don't know which board to post on I was reading the Disney magazine the Grand Floriadian has a couple of different spas ,has anyone really tried these?? I can not picture a girl standing on my back using her toes and the heels of her feet to give me a massage then the next one pours wax all over me (3) times I just don't know?? Has anyone done one of these or all of the above ?? thanks Kim

Haven't tried any of those ones, but I did do the Aromothearapy Message and Body Wrap last October. It was wonderful! 2 hours of pampering!

There is actually only one Spa at the GF, although it has a rather extensive list of treatments.

I "live" to spa :D

If you haven't been to a spa before, why not call them and ask for their spa menu. Each treatment has a little deswcription, and it might help you decide.

There are several different types of massage offered, I think most people tend towards the traditional Swedish variety.

There are a lot of things that would be great for a first time treatment. The hydrotherapy bath can be done in a bathing suit. Swedish massage is done with you 100% nude, but under warmed sheets and the therapist is very discreet.

You could also have a facial, or a manicure and pedicure which IMHO is extremely relaxing!

If you think it's "weird", you're probably not going to enjoy it much. Feel free to ask the therapist before they begin about exactly what they will be doing, and what benefit it offers. If at any time you are uncomfortable, speak up and say so!

Have been several times for facials. They were wonderful. The workout machines are really nice. When you get a treatment you also get access to the exercise room and whirlpool/steamroom.

HI! We are going on the Deluxe Magic package, so get a free facial from the spa, if we choose this feature. Could anyone describe what exactly happens if you get a facial? I have never had one before, and am not sure what goes on or if I'd be comfortable. I'm assuming you get to wear your clothes if they only do your face?
Thanks for any help!

Nope, no clothes, although you could wear your panties if you want.

You get there and are led to the ladies lounge, handed a robe and slippers. You need to take off your shirt and bra, like I said leave on the panties if you are more comfy taht way. Take off shoes and socks, and any jewelry you're wearing. I loop my rings through the curly bracelet the locker key is on, put my awtch around it, and don't wear any other jewelry to the spa. During treatments I either leave it in the robe pocket (not suggested if you are getting amanicure!) or on the hook on the back of the door with the robe over it.

Your therapist will come and get you and lead you to the treatment room. She'll ask you to take off the robe and get on the table face up and pull the sheet and blanket up over you. Then she'll step out of the room and give you a little time to get set. She'll knock before coming back in.

The room is dimly lit. She'll remove any makeup you are wearing, and then examine your face and discuss your current skin care regimen and any concerns you have. What happens next depends on the type of facial you're getting, but basically they use a variety of products on you, zap blackheads, use steam on your face, etc. During the application of one product, or while waiting for a masque to dry, you'll receive a neck, shoulder, upper chest (they don't touch any "private" areas, just the area above your cleavage up to your neck) and arm massage. Most of the time you'll also get a foot massage.

When she's all done, she'll step out of the room while you slip back into the robe. If you really don't want to take off your bra, you could leave it on and just slip the straps down under your arms I guess. If you are very modest, don't be afraid to say so.

A facial is an incredible experience that you'll want to make a regular part of your skin care routine :)

That sounds like a super facial! Nothing like the facials I've had before. Is that the one of the 25 minute facials? My flyer I picked up from the GF last summer has them for $63.

I've had facials before, during which the technician has told me not to be alarmed, as my face may start to break out from the facial. You might want to save the facial for the end of the vacation, so your face can break out at home, or you could do it at the beginning, so the sun can dry the face out.

Thank you for all of the help and suggestions - much appreciated!

I have been to the GF spa several times and have had facials, manicures, pedicures, massages, sea salt body polish, aromatherapy bath (the best!!) and marine algae body wrap. I highly recommend any and all of the treatments. My favorite was probably the combination of the aromatherapy bath and then a massage right after. My least favorite was the facial. It's a nice way to spend the day (or a few hours) really relaxing and to get away from the parks for a while.

That wouldn't be a 25 minute facial. I've never had one that short. The one's I've had have lasted between 50-85 minutes.

Wow! I've never had my face break out during or after a facial. I have mild rosacea, and even that isn't aggravated! I always discuss any allergies and the rosacea with the therapist before we begin. Perhaps you are allergic to something?

i am thinking about the couples spa treatment. any info? thanks!:p

We did it a couple years ago. It's two massage beds int eh room, Each of you has a therapist, and they work on both of you at the same time. We didnt' really enjoy it much, mostly because we prefer different styles of massage treatments.

It wasn't anything special at all. If I was ever going to do a spa treatment with DH again, it would be the instructional massage.

LOL I do too! I did a lot of treatments in Jan during my solo trip. My fav was the aromatherapy massage and wrap and the stress recovery facial. I plan on having both of them again in July.
If you call them they will fax you their brochure.
