OMG, they did a wonderful job with this show! We had so much fun. We haven't seen it on Broadway but I can't imagine it being any better than the touring company. Seriously was great. And really exciting to see Eric Idle last night, too (not in the show, but after the show).

Glad to hear it was good! DH & I are thinking of getting tickets for the Pittsburgh show.

We saw it in Chicago right after it opened and would love to see the show again, I heard it was much more tight once they went to Broadway. The show was great, but it was not as good as seeing The Producers on opening Sunday, that show was simply amazing and fresh, that cast was perhaps the best I have seen on stage.

I'm glad you had fun. Me and DBF really want to see this show. We tried to get tickets for Broadway in December and they had very limited seating. :sad1:

We just saw the Producers and it was one of the best shows I have seen! Extremely funny and definitely worth sitting in those tiny, tiny seats.

I can't believe I saw this post. I'm going tonight! glad to hear it was great. we've had tickets for a couple of months now. Leaving home at 4:30 for dinner then the show.

Debbie, enjoy it! were you able to get good seats? We did the same thing...went into town for an early dinner (5:30) then headed over to the show. It really was excellent. let me know how you enjoyed it. I'll have a question for you tomorrow, too (I don't want to give something away by asking now).

I wonder if Eric Idle was just there for last night? he just gave a great speech at the end and I think it was because it was opening night.

Wow. that's really great that you got to see Eric Idle! We saw Spamalot on Broadway in Sept. We all loved it, including my kids who now know all the words to most of the songs because we have the CD!

I do have one question about the touring show. Is it the same length as the one on Broadway? I had read somewhere that the one in Las Vegas will be shorter than the one on Broadway. The reason being that the people who go to Las Vegas have shorter attention spans than the ones going to New York? :confused3 Seriously. So does anyone know if the touring show has the length of the Broadway show or the Las Vegas show?

I don't know the length of the one in vegas and haven't seen the broadway version. I can't imagine they cut it, though. I checked the original soundtrack and they had all the songs so not sure where they would have cut it. and the reviewers in the paper and on tv compared it to the broadway version but didn't mention any time/scenes cut. again, this was in boston so can't answer for vegas.

As for Eric Idle, he headed up to the stage from out in the audience just after the final bow. it was so funny because you could almost hear a collective gasp from the audience, then lots of whispering before he started talking.

I saw it on Broadway with the original cast and can I be honest...it wasn't one of my favorite shows last year. Living in NYC and being a huge sucker for musicals, we saw a show about once every 3 weeks and, aside from the original Tony winning Lady of the Lake Sara Ramirez, it just didn't live up to all of the hype. That being said, I'm so glad that so many others loved it!

that must be awesome to see so many shows in nyc! I have a friend on long island who sees pretty much everything. So far I've only seen Avenue Q in NYC, but I've seen lots of shows in Boston/LA and I've never been disappointed by a touring company yet. knock wood.

As for Spamalot, I loved the show, but at the same time didn't feel the need to buy the soundtrack (usually I love soundtracks). Still, I'd see spamalot again and highly recommend it to people who want a good laugh. :)
