I have a yahoo email account (among others) and somewhere along the line I signed up for something or another and after that I started getting tons and tons of spam emails.. (I could tell by the sender and the title of what they were offering..) At first I was just deleting them - unread - but then I tried a different tactic..

I would check mark all the ones that were spam - go to the top (where it says "move") and send them to my spam box unread.. Since then I have noticed that many of the ones I used to get in my in-box now go directly to the spam box instead - which I empty daily..

Is it supposed to work like that? Or did I just get lucky? LOL :)

It's supposed to work like that. Gmail has the same type of thing, as do most other major email providers. Their filters can "learn" to recognize spam more effectively if you choose the option to identify it.

Great! I wish I had known that sooner.. My in-box has waaaay less spam mail in it now! :thumbsup2

I avoid this by having a separate email account that I use for anything that might produce spam...

I normally would have done that too, but this particular site that I found on the Budget Board was simply a coupon-type site and I never dreamed I would get the kind of stuff I'm getting now!!
Won't make that mistake again.. I'll use one of my AOL email accounts for anything I have to "sign up" for..:sad2:

Better yet, use www.mailinator.com

It lets you set up a temporary address for one-time use for signups that need to be verified.
