PSA: I have my own Internet domain with unlimited email aliases. In order to try to minimize spam, I create an alias for each company I do business with. I then register the alias with the company rather than using my real email address. That way I can tell where the spam is coming from and if necessary remove the alias. Well ever since I created an alias for Virgin America I have been getting quite a bit of spam. I know it is somehow coming from Virgin America because it is coming to the alias I registered with them. Now, several things are possible:
  1. VA has shared the email address.
  2. A VA employee has shared the address with out VA's knowledge.
  3. The VA email list is not protected and a hacker got it.
  4. A hacker intercepted an email coming from VA and grabbed the alias
In any case, I just wanted to let people know that if they are receiving a lot of spam and they registered with VA, that might be where it is coming fom.
