Is this plan crazy or "crazy like a fox"?

I have a trip booked in August with my sister and parents at POLY CL with a 3 day base ticket.
My parents are older and will not be moving too fast so my sister and I are prepared for a more relaxed trip in which we will be skipping some attractions since my parents will not be going on them and we are focusing this trip on them. It will be their first time staying at a deluxe and first time experiencing the luxury of CL plus it will likely be the last time they go to Disney.

I booked 2 different dates in August for this trip as a BB offer but we decided on the later date but kept both reservations just in case.

So.... now I am considering modifying the first date to a cheaper resort and my sister and I can go and do all the things we are likely to skip with my parents

We would be going twice within 2 weeks.

Is that crazy or smart lol?

If you can do it, this is a great option!

We visited with my parents on their final trip and loved it but they were also done after about 3 attractions each day. After that is was pool and resort time. Wouldn't trade the memories we created that trip for anything but you're good to know you're going into it with a different mindset. If you can go twice, that would be amazing!!

I mean if you can swing it; I'd do it.

Could you modify the trip to another resort before/after your parent's trip?
Can your parents travel on their own? If so, I would go down before the parent trip or you/sister stay
after the parent trip. Doing this, you would be able to travel with your parents on the first or last leg of your trip.

Let us know what you decide.

I vote crazy like a fox. I'll often fly in a day or two early when I have a trip planned with friends or family. If there are things that I want to do that I know they are not interested in (dining/shopping/certain rides), I can knock them out ahead of time. Makes my time spent with the slow movers much more relaxed.

I'm somewhat doing this plan myself this summer. I'm going with my mom (in her 70s) in July. She doesn't care to do some of the attractions I love (e.g RnRC, SE). My family of 4 + my parents are all doing going on DCL in August and when we get off, my family of 4 are doing a week at WDW (and a few days at USO). I'll use those days to get in the attractions my mom doesn't want to do (as well as eat at the places she doesn't care for). So, OP, if you can swing it, I'd go for it!

With use of BB offer, it appears like you go somewhat regularly (could be wrong here). It’s unclear as to where you are travelling from —2-3 hour drive away or long flight day also makes a difference to me.
I guess I would ask why go twice within two weeks in the august heat? Why not spread out and go in cooler month. You will likely get access to more BB offers after next trip. So…my take is crazy

For those wondering.
I'm a 2.5hr flight away.
If I were 2 hour drive away I'd probably have an AP and go at least monthly lol so this wouldn't even be a post.

We cannot just add it on to the beginning or end because my parents will need help especially if we do fly (we are considering driving with them because thats what they are used to)

As to why 2 trips in August heat? We actually don't mind it. Easier to know what to pack and USUALLY the storms are predictable.

Plus with my sister being a teacher its just easier to go in August rather than her taking days off during the year.

Absolutely do both! Like other posters, I loved making memories with my older parents and in-laws - but I was really glad we had another trip coming up soon after. That way we could enjoy every moment with our folks knowing it would likely be the last trip to Disney we would all take together and not worry about missing out on some favorite rides/experiences. But I'm an out of state passholder who makes the 9 hour drive multiple times per year so I may not be the most impartial judge :-)

Then I say go twice! Sounds like you really want to do this anyway!
Have fun!

I couldn’t manage two trips in such a short span, but go for it if you can! We are also doing what may be the last trip with aging grandparents in August, but our plan is to go slow in the morning with them and get all the fast rides out of our system after lunch when they go to hotel. Thankfully, they can still get themselves to transportation and rooms. Club level sounds like a great place to stay with them, so it makes sense to just chill there and make memories.

Now I'm bawling! Will my kids take me on a "last trip" at some point? Will I know it's my last trip? I can't imagine walking down main street knowing it's the last time. 😭😭😭
