I have heard a rumor that Spaceship Earth is going to be converted to a Roller Coaster. Has anyone else heard this? I am hoping this rumor is just that. Lord knows we don't need another roller coaster. I might as well go to that other theme park down the street if we are talking thrill rides. WDW is a special place that allows for thrills as well as learning. I have ridden Spaceship Earth dozens of times and never tire of it. It is one of WDW's special rides. Please, if anyone has heard of this rumor and feels like I do let me know. I would love to contact Disney and let them know some changes DO NOT WORK (see Journey into the Imagination).
Thank you. Have a great day.

I read recently that that might not be really easily done as much of the internal structure of the current SE ride is supporting the outside of the geosphere.

I really hope they don't. I like SE the way it is. It's fun, educational, and relaxing. Epcot has plenty of thrill rides. There's no need to change a classic.

This is one classic that I hope they Never change.

I go there for my first attraction every trip, and then I go for my very last attraction to say Goodbye.

What I would really like to see them do is to make the track smoother, and the audio clearer.

I am a Disney Traditionalist. I don't want SE changed. It probably could use some refurbishing and maybe even a little updating, I believe SE's future is already our past. Other than that, I think it should be left alone.

Totally agree, SimbaNoodle. I'd be heartbroken if they changed it; it's one of my absolute favorites.

A lot of the newer attractions aimed at the adult crowd have been the type for thrill-seekers (TOT, RNRC, MS and now the new coaster being built at AK). There are many of us who don't have the stomachs for those type of rides, and I would hate to think that SE would be gutted to add yet another thrill attraction.

Lots of parks across the country offer thrills, but no one does the magic like Disney. My vote is to keep it that way.

No way should they convert SS to a rollercoaster! I do think they should continue to update it - to keep it current with technology. And, for us tall folks, I wish they'd make the headrests higher or add padding! Otherwise, it's one of my favorites anywhere. I can't wait to take my Mom in 11 days - she's never been to Epcot.
