I have a question about this ride. My husband gets motion sickness very badly. He's even gotten sick on kiddie rides. I haven't been to WDW since college (many, many years ago). If I recall, this isn't a very fast moving ride, is it? And you don't feel like you're way up, do you? He only goes on rides that we know are not going to make him sick, such as Small World. Thanks!

It does move very slowly, you could walk faster than you travel. There is a solid floor, so you don't realize how elevated you are. You do go at an incline, but not severe. On the way back, your car turns around and you go backward.

This ride is a very very slow moving ride, and in fact, you barely even notice it's moving. I get pretty bad motion sickness too, but this is probably going to be one of the rides that will least affect a person with motion sickness.

My 88-year-old MIL loved it when we took her a few months ago. It's very tame.

Maybe he could try some ginger? It helps with minor motion sickness.

Spaceship Earth never affects me or my daughter and we both get motion sickness very easy. The descent might bug him if he looks backwards since it is quite a nice angle, but maybe the ginger can help him.

SSE is pretty much like a typical dark ride, and except for the fact that your car goes up a steady incline and then descends slowly backwards, you really have no indication just how high you go. Your husband should be fine. Just for reference, here is what the warning sign says at the entrance.

Moves very slow and lots to look at so your DH should be fine. Hope you enjoy your trip to the World :goodvibes

If he gets sick on SSE, he better just stay home. I think walking pace is faster.

This is a great ride to relax on because it's moves so slowly and smoothly:goodvibes

I love space ship earth, because it is such a nice, slow, relaxing ride, and air conditioned. I don't think he should have any trouble with it.

Can he do the Nemo ride? If so, he should be able to do this....they move at about the same pace...in fact, I think Spaceship Earth might move slower than Nemo. The only difference is that Nemo stays flat on the ground, while Spaceship Earth does incline!

:lmao: It's one of the few rides my DW can do without turning green...

It is very slow moving and I would think the only iffy spot would be the turn around and the descend backwards..... Of course he could try taking some Dramamine in the morning

The good thing too, now, is that now that they redid it, when you go down the incline upon exit backward (kind of steep), they keep you busy with the computer screens on your car, and a really fun cute little thing they got there. I'm not a fan of heights, and I could've cared less. Maybe the only part (which is not for long) is upon entering, and like the stars are going by, could disturb some. Go through it yourself first, and with others, and then, you know your DH better than us, so you can gage it better.

Actually, you sort of can feel how high you are.
I freak out when we go up the steep incline but they keep you busy with the new touch-screen but they need to make it a tad longer [the touch screen, not the ride]
and the backwards part scares me .. I don't like heights.

dramamine has an all day non drowsey formula. my son takes one and can ride anything. why suffer with feeling motion sickness when you dont have to

I have extreme motion sickness and LOVE this ride. It is slow, fun, and very informative. I love the re-do also!

I take the old fashioned dramamine to ride in the car or plane. It knocks me out so I just sleep. The non-drowsy dramamine is the same medicine as Bonine and I have had very bad side effects from it. I will never take it again. Natural remedies don't work for me, I think they work best for milder cases.

I just don't do any thrill rides. I can handle Soarin' and the non-spinning MS. I don't do coasters or drop rides (I can handle POTC) or anything that spins.

The reason I love Disney is that there is so much I CAN do!!!

Most kiddie rides are spinning rides, I can't handle them either.

Yeah, but he got sick on the Camp Bus ride at the Mall of America. I think of it as a super mild ride, but he can't handle any of them. Fortunately for DS, I can do most rides, as my son is a roller coaster junkie at age 5. It is nice though, because DH then has to hold the bags :thumbsup2

It is good to know that he can do this one, though. I thought it was mild enough for him, and air conditioned is a benefit, as we are going in August.
