When is the opening of Spaceship Earth supposed to happen? I am sure this has been addressed but I missed it. Thanks for your responses!!:thumbsup2

It is currently scheduled to be closed until Nov. 13, haven't heard anything contrary yet. More rehabs will be coming after the holidays.

Its been rumored by CM's that it might not open until 12/9, but this is not confirmed.

Wow, I think it would have been wonderful if it opened with the anniversary of Epcot's 25th - October 1. I guess things don't always work out as planned. Looking forward to riding it and seeing the changes, if any that are made to it. :)

Keeping my fingers crossed for 11/13. It was the first ride I was planning to go on in Epcot.

 we're really looking forward to riding this - i'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll be open during our stay (12/8 - 12/15)!! looking forward to seeing the updates they're making!!! :rolleyes1

I read somewhere here on the DIS that they are running behind schedule on this one. So if they said December 9, I'd guess it won't be until later in December.

For some reason I'm thinking they said 2 weeks behind, but I'm not sure...

I was able to see the new area at the end of the ride "Creating tommorrow" or something like that. It was great! It has 3-d games and new concepts. If this is the way they are going, i like it!

:hippie:

We are going from 11-25 to 12/2, a trip that was partially booked because SE would not be open on the Oct. 26-29 trip. So I am pretty resigned after hearing this latest rumor it will open 12/3! That's how it goes for us. ;)

I'm crossing my fingers that it will be opened when we go Jan 25-Feb 1! With them running behind and also with it probably being closed for awhile after the holidays I am beginning to worry. But, hopefully it will be opened! I just can't wait to see it!

I guess no luck opening sooner I really wanted to see it before my return home on 11/14....................Darn:sad2:

I wish we could get a deffinative answer to this question, I already moved my reservation air and all once to be able to be there when it was open I now go from Nov 14 -20 if it is still not going to be open I may cancel the trip and I am already inside the 45 days obviously, I don't want to get to the five day mark and then have to cancel.
Anyone that works there know when we may have a better answer if they will or will not meet the published date?

Our trip is also 11/25 - 12/2. My husband will be so disappointed; it was his first ride in 1996 and holds a special place in his heart. :sad1:

that's so weird! i read the title to the thread and thought, it would have been so cool if they would have opened spaceship earth on the 25th anniversary! great minds think alike :goodvibes

Drat, this is not good news. We'll be there on 11/30 for our Grand Gathering and I was really looking forward to having us all go on this. It is absolutely my favorite ride at Epcot.

Fingers crossed that the rumors of a December opening are false...

Does anyone know what they will be doing during the rehabs??? :confused3 Are they just giving it a 'facelift' with new paint and fixing any broken or out-dated animatronics, or will they be completely changing some scenes? I had no idea this was going on, but I have been 'out of the loop' for a little while.

I love that ride, and I'm just hoping they won't do anything too drastic to it...mind you it was in need of some updating.

It's getting a major overhaul. Some new scenes are being added, a new narration and soundtrack have been recorded, and viewscreens have been installed in all the ride vehicles. It'll still be SSE, but the updated version will be more closely tied into Siemens and the services and products it provides. :)
