Does anyone know if they (WDW people) are going to make something new inside of it? I have heard rumors for about 2 years and was wondering if anyone is still hearing the same thing?????:confused3

This is such a classic, they better not change it!!!
There's so much room for expansion in Disney, that if they want to build something new, they should build it somewhere else and leave the old stuff alone! (Look what happened to Horizons!!!) I loved that ride!

Nothing new planned for the ride itself (that I've heard). But, Siemens is working on updating the exit/exhibition area. I have no idea what exhibits they are working on though

I hope not!! This is one of my favorites. I agree, leave the old alone and build it somewhere else.

There was another thread a while back about the updates in SSE. Some one had taken a few pic of the work being done behind the wood walls. From what I coult take of the pics, it`s looking pretty kewl.

I remember a couple of years ago fan sites were buzzing (not in a good way)about the possibility of making SSE into a coaster. I haven't heard any talk about that in a while, and doubt there is much to it. The new Siemen's sponsorship probably means SSE is "safe" for a while longer.

I remember reading somewhere that they had to abandon the coaster idea because the current ride is part of the structual integrity of the pavilion (and I was very happy to read this!!) Anyway, I was just there and there is definitely construction going on in the exit area. It just had "coming soon" signs - no idea of what it's going to be yet.

This ride was totally awesome. I hope they never get ride of it. It is so relaxing. It is best when you sneak lunch on and eat it while riding.:dance3:

I miss Horizons too! I agree leave SSE alone! And CoP too!

When we were there in January, purely by accident I overheard some discussion about several things involving Spaceship Earth.
One part was about a tour that involves SSE, one CM advising that DH and I take the tour and the other CM telling me I wasn't supposed to know about the tour, that it was something for CM's only. LOL I whined a bit and asked if there was any way we could take the tour, as it had such a cool cool name! Unfortunately my whining didn't do any good.
I've been a good girl and this is the first time I've told anyone about what my big ears heard. :)

The other thing mentioned was that we should make sure we rode SSE now and because it would be shut down "soon" for renovation, compliments of the new sponsor.
I just hope they don't change it too much. I've said it many times but I don't do change well. LOL

Bah! We will be going this November! I was hoping none of the classics would be shut down while we visit. (I'm bringin a couple of newbies, and SSE is one of my favorite rides. It wouldn't feel like it was epcot if I didnt get to ride it) If it has taken this long for the mexico pavillion boat ride to be renovated I could imagine how long SSE would take.

Oh well.. Sponorship and updating is always better then shutting down and demolishment. I guess its another excuse to visit after its done.;) lol

I heard the rumors as well but I certainly hope they leave it as is. There are plenty of areas in Epcot that Disney can put thrill rides in. Ripping out the inside of Spaceship Earth would be like defacing Cinderellas Castle (no 25th anniversary cake jokes). :)

It was last renovated in 1994. I'm also someone who doesn't like change not to mention complete tear downs. But, my friends explained to me the times change so the rides have to keep up with the changes. So, I accepted the changes, but miss the old extremely.

I don't miss World of Motion....

We were just there first of Feb and the Siemens thing caught my eye and there is definitely something going on at the exit which is now walled off and you must exit to the left only. Had to walk all the way around to get the stroller which we always park in the same place.

I love SSE as a calm down ride that DD3 loves to ride and was one of the spots DW would breastfeed DD3 when she was younger. Yes we know there are cameras in there so don't read this ladies and think you're all alone in the dark, you still must be discreet... :)

I really miss Horizons and World of Motion, too! The older I get, the more I appreciate the "calm, quiet" rides.

I believe the changes are only at the exit of the ride. Not the ride itself.

When we were there the other day, the exit was walled off.

We like this ride. DS loves it, it's a nice relaxing ride to break up the day.

Yup, that was the rumor I had heard..... Didn't know if that was all it was....Thank you.
