Space Shuttle Atlantis

Yes, I read the same thing from a different source.

It might become interesting for those cruising on the Wonder on Oct 3. The launch window is between 2 and 6 pm and they do not allow marine traffic for approximately 125 nautical miles around the Kenendy Space Center during a launch attempt. I think there will be 3 cruise ships trying to leave port between 4:30 and 5:30pm so they might have to be delayed until 'the coast is clear'.

On the plus side, it should be a spectacular view for those onboard the ship. The Space Center is easily seen from the Port side of the ship while it's docked and while it's pulling out of the channel and heading to sea.

hope that helps

I'm hoping that it is delayed for one more evening until the 4th.

We will be spending the night in Cocoa Beach Friday before we board the Magic and it would make my whole trip to be able to see her go up. It is something that I have dreamed of my whole life.

Well Shooter, I'm a vote for the 3rd because we're on the Wonder then.

Yes, but it's not because they think Lili is heading towards Florida, it's because they think Lili is heading towards Houston. After space shuttles lift off, the mission is controlled from the Johnson Space Center, southeast of Houston near the Gulf of Mexico. They want to make sure Lili isn't headed in their direction before they try to control space flights from there.

Looks like LIli IS headed in their direction. Will be interesting to see when it launches. We'll be flying over Lili on Friday, Albuquerque to Orlando. Diana

I just visited the nasa site and it looks like the launch has been postponed again until 10/7 between 2pm and 6pm. We'll be on day 2 of our Wonder cruise -- stopping in Nassau that day. Does anyone know if we will be able to see anything from there? Either way, it's pretty exciting!!!:Pinkbounc

Nassua is 269 nautical miles from Port Canaveral, according to the daily navigators.

That's quite a distance and I would doubt that you could see anything from there. It's about the same distance as the Space Center and Savannah, Ga by land.

But I would still look up and towards KSC if I were onboard, just in case.

hope that helps
