My 7 year old is beyond excited to finally be big enough for this ride. Just wondering how it seats. Is it two in a row, one in front of another. I would feel best if he was sat beside me not alone in a different seat where I couldnt' be sure to hold on to him in some way. Not that he will be afraid, me more so for safety and peace of mind. I know on splash mountain we sat beside each other and I could hold his hand and on to him when I felt I needed to and or he needed me to. We went in 2009 but space mountain was closed then and I have never been on it

Each person has their own seat. Each car has three people in a row and there are two cars per "ride." If he sits in front of you you will be able to hold his shoulders since he will be essentially sitting in your lap.

It is single seats. If he is tall enough he will be perfectly safe, you don't need to hold onto him. Space Mountain is a very tame coaster. It only seems worse because it is dark.

Go let him enjoy it and don't worry he will be fine without being held onto!

I understand your concern. At MK, the seats are single--three to a car. I think (but don't know for sure) that they are side by side at DL. Anyway, when I took my 8 year old at MK a few months ago, he sat in the middle seat and I sat behind him. Even though I am petite (5'1") the seats were close enough that I could lean forward and keep my hands on his shoulders the entire time. HTH

All true. You can touch the person in front of you but try not to worry about it too much. DH sat in front, DD in middle, & me in back. It was very bumpy & jerky & I was trying to touch DD with my left arm, & be sure that the backpack didn't jump out with my right arm. I had a huge bruise under my left arm from my elbow on up, from trying to hold on to DD (lasted for a week or more)! There is no way she would have fallen out, but I couldn't help it. We've all decided that once was enough, so I don't have to worry about it again...

My DD rode Space when she was 4 and I was more than a bit concerned but like PP said, if the child is tall enough to ride, there are no worries. DD's first ride I rode in front, then DD, then DH. DH held her shoulder until she brushed him off. When we got off she said told DH that she was riding again and in the front and no holding on to her.

My son went on when he was 5 and 7. the seats are in front of each other. As a parent I was concerned too. Here is my son's 8 yr old feelings on this question. He didn't need me to sit with him as he could hold on on his won in the seat. He was not worried or scared at all. He says he felt safe by himself because it didn't go upside down.

So I believe I have read that one of the seats has more leg room for my tall dh. Could anyone tell me which seat would be best for him?

I feel cramped in all (I'm 6'2"), but the worst is the front of each car. I'd have him avoid Row #1 (in the first car) and Row #4 (in the second car). No difference between #2, #3, #5, or #6 that I know of.

Thanks..my dh is also 6'2" with some very long legs, so I'm sure he will feel cramped as well!

If you have concerns about being able to comfort your child if they are scared or get feedback from them, don't ride. It's too dark to see and loud enough that you can't talk - you can hear the person in back of you but they have a very hard time hearing you if you're in front. As others have pointed out the seats are single and spaced out enough where it's hard to pat the person in front of you on the shoulder without having to go into traction from a whiplash injury.

All this said, I had no problem putting my 6yo on it, but I knew she would not have a problem. She likes things fast and loud and scary and she had no problems with it.

The good thing about being this tall is that the space under his knees is a great place to stash the backpack.
