I have read that Space Mountain is to be shut in early 2007 for a major revamp. In my 2007 Brit's Guide and Orlando and Walt Disney World, it says that there will be lasers added, an electronic light show and a rock 'n' roll theme. Can anyone elaborate on this?

 :welcome:

The only operational updates in MK listed on the WDW website is Splash Mountain in January and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in January and February.

I'm interested to see if this is true. It surprises me that they would change the theme this much since they already have Rock 'n Roller Coaster at MGM.

HTH!

That's what was done for Space Mountain in DL when it was under extended rehab. Don't know if they will do the same for Space Mtn at WDW.

What was changed for the attraction in Disneyland? I'm a little worried about this rock 'n' roll theme.

The revamped Space Mountain at Disneyland is FABULOUS! Longer, smoother, darker, better music, and down right funner. The music plays in the rocket (similar to RnRC) and was written by the guy who did The Incredibles... and it sounds a bit like it. It adds a lot to the experience.

From what I understand, Disneyland is going to add extra lights and Rock music to two of their rollercoasters (Space and California Screamin') only at night. A day version and a night version.

DD19 and I agree that we wouldn't mind WDW's Space Mountain being changed to be like Disneyland's.

Oh yeah... the way they make it longer is to have each rocket hold twice as many people and only have one track.

rode space mountain dec 3 and have to say that after all the other coasters i rode this week it is the worst and need revamped it was jerky and i guess i like alittle light to see whats coming or no light like EE it was rough to ride IMO

I have never ridden the Disneyland California Space Mountain ride but I would truly not mind it being changed to be like the one in Paris, (if anyone as ever ridden that one). The Paris ride is amazing, much better then world, and is in the pitch black so you can't see absolutely anything coming...I loved it...actually I loved most of the rides in DLP because they are all improved versions of Disney World and California, so I wouldn't mind if any of the rides were designed to match the Paris one's.

My family LOVES the new version of Space Mountain at DL. It's VERY VERY DARK and FAST and FUN! However, DH and I are going to WDW for the first time in late January, and we're actually looking forward to riding the older version at WDW. In a way, we kind of miss the older version - I guess just for nostalgic and sentimental reasons. :)

I loved Space Mountain at DLP. I also have to agree with you about most of the rides there vs. WDW.
