Space Mountain question

So are there any major drops in Space Mountain or is it pretty much just Thunder Mountain without lights?

No major drops or loops, not really like BTM either - turns are a lot tighter.

THIS!! I will only do it once per trip and when it's just DH and myself, nope, not doing it. My neck, my head, my back all hurt after that ride.

I always feel like I've been beat up as well and pretty much just close my eyes the entire time. I love coasters but that one is really disorienting and the jerking gets old quick. My 9 yr old loves it though so I always end up on it multiple times.

It has more dips than Big Thunder, but they're small.

Just about what everyone else said-you kinda feel beat up afterwards. And I always struggle to get out of the darn car when it's over. It's fun once a trip, the family rides more and I just look in the gift shop while I wait on them.

As coasters go it's not that extreme, but because you're in the dark you aren't able to anticipate and compensate for the sharp turns & dips. Because of the darkness it kind of "has its way with you." It's similar to Primeval Whirl at AK, but a little longer.

I went on it for the first time as an over-30-year-old mother and was worried about it being rough after comments on here. I forced myself to relax so that my body could move with the sudden turns, and I didn't find it too rough at all! I was really, really, fun. The ride doesn't get it's thrills from drops, but rather sudden, sharp turns that you cannot predict because of the darkness.

I will only ride it once if BFF insists, the rest of the time, I skip it....however DL's is a lot smoother and I will ride it there.

It's not like BTMR.

One of my fav rides though if not my favorite! There are two small drops a bit like Kali river Rapids that make you go 'whoaaa' but nothing like splash mountain.

Lots of sharp turns and very rickety. You will get off the ride going oomphhh due to your body getting thrown around.

Love it. And I'm not a roller coaster guy at all. Expedition Everest is as crazy as I get!! No rockin roller coaster or tower of terror for me.

Another person who always feels like I've been in a fight when I get off. I'm a small person and it really throws me around, Thunder mountain doesn't. I only ride Space Mountain once a trip and then only if there is no long wait since we use our FP for other things and it's just not a fun ride for me.

My friend and I rode it 17x back to back in high school during Magic Hours. We were sore, but it was soooo fun!

It's even darker now and you can't see anything vs 7+ years ago.

There are what I would consider two drops. One isn't very major, more like PoTC drop with regards to height. It happens when you go rocketing past the lift hill. The other is about halfway through the ride. It really dips down and is more intense than any of the others interms of speed and steepness. The tough part is, since it is dark you won't know it is there. I can't judge the height.

Good summary. If you ride it a few times, you can easily estimate when the drops/turns are coming.

This ride is fun because it's so dark, your body can't prep itself for the drops or turns and you're thrown around like a rag doll.

It's really a fairly tame ride though. Again, take this advice from a guy who WILL NOT do Six Flags coasters or RRC or ToT.
