I watched the Disney Christmas Parade this Saturday and they annouced that Space Mountain won't open until Fall of 2005. That is very disappointing, since we are spending a fortune to visit in July for the anniversary celebration. I was under the impression that it would reopen by then.

Has anyone heard anything different?

The only date I've heard is November '05.

I heard September last Wednesday (not from a cm, but someone who seemed to be in the know) and that it could move up to July 17 if the crowds stay away in May/June. But mostly I've heard November.

Ive heard that they wanted to bump it up but the costs to get a rush job on it would be huge and so they've stuck with the Nov date

From the very beginning the date has been Nov '05 - which has always seemed downright stupid to me - that is 6 months into their 18 month celebration. Rumor then had it that they may up the time table by doing round the clock testing if the crowds aren't up to par with what they are expeting for the 50th. So we will have to wait and see.

With such sorry shape that Tomorrowland is in you would think they could have pushed this project a little faster to get it ready in time for the May kickoff, or the actual birthday in July. At least Buzz will be ready!!

Disney has been very clear on the fall 05 opening date, Perhaps you can adjust your plans?

Nothing is ever set in stone but I would give it about a 2% chance of having soft openings that early...

Space Mountain has never been promised any sooner then November 2005. There was talk that it "might" open in July, but I wouldn't count on it.

Its too bad that they can not get it open for the 50th but that is the way some things go.

due to the extensive work that was required they've never been willing to "guarantee" anything before Nov 2005 ... and with all of the $$$ they've been pouring into fixing up the rest of the park, I don't think they realistically had an option for spending more $$$ on getting SM open any faster. It is sad it won't be open for the 50th on 7/17/2005 but since it's not an original 1955 attraction, they probably don't see it as being the end of the world so to speak.
