Space Mountain Exit

Oh you would totally hate me and my friend! We try to actually ride it like a ride! we'll sit on the railing fowards and backwards. upside down right side up! its the second best part of the right!!!
:woohoo: :rolleyes1

Yeah, I think we'll just keep standing and letting the belt take us up the hill. But then again, my knees and ankles really don't like walking up steep hills, so what can you do?

Oh that's right. You can call me names from behind me because I'm not walking like the teenage boys the last trip. I do ever so enjoy being called "fatty" and "lard butt" (only not as nice) because I'm not moving at the pace you want me to!

That stinks so much. Sometimes teenagers can be really ugly brats. There's room for everyone on the belt -- both standers, and polite passers -- there should be no need for any one to be jerks to each other.

Not excusing the name calling but........did you move over so they could pass or did you block the walkway? If you blocked their path on purpose you were being as rude as they were. If they could get by but preferred to call you names then they were just rude.

No. I stood in the entire walk way so NO ONE could get past me mwahahahah!

I always stand to the right. I apparently wasn't standing over FAR enough for them (what the holy heck did they want me to do, sit on the arm rail?) so they started calling both my fiance and I names. I was honestly taking pictures of the robots and things... and once they got past they KEPT calling us names.

It's things like that which usually force me up the ramp, whether my knees can take it or not. And honestly, I don't think that's fair.

It's a vacation not school. Next thing you know we are going to raise our hand and ask Mickey if we could use the bathroom.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

We were at WDW for the first time in January. Honestly, I was so queezy after space mountain, it would never have dawned on me to do anything but stand and I have no idea if I was on the right side or the left! I barely remember the ramp that exits the ride and surely would not have cared if you had asked to go past me. The vast majority of visitors to WDW are reasonable, I am sure. Just ask! Perhaps it would be best not to assume that people are just trying to ruin your good time. A little understanding goes a long way in this world.

Hope you have a better trip next time!

REALLY!!!!!

While I wouldn't mind moving if you POLITLEY asked me to, if I choose to walk or stand still, it is my choice. It is one of the few places that have no rules posted, so you can do what you choose.:woohoo: We all paid the same price, and get our enjoyment in different ways, respect mine, and I will respect yours.:thumbsup2

I get my pleasure going through the parks with no pants or boxers on. Hey, I paid my money, I can do what I choose and respect mine, just no commenting on the peanut butter on the genitals please.

I don't see why a simple system of 'stand to the right, walk to the left' is a problem. Drives me nuts on escalators too; saving 15 seconds isn't the point, it's that they are there as an added convenience and while you are welcome to stand, don't hold up those who wish to move while on them.

I think this has been taken to far out of context. The OP did not comment on having people stand to the right, I took it as they wanted people to walk, no standing at all. I agree, and I think everyone else does, stand to the right walk on the left, but don't expect everyone to walk the whole way!

Agreed! :thumbsup2

Really? Standing in front of someone for an extra 30 seconds is "just as rude" as calling someone vulgar, demeaning and disgusting names over and over?

To the person who had this happen, I'm so sorry. I had someone repeatedly remark on my weight (and I'm not a particularly big lady) at Epcot because I wouldn't move and let him and his family have my spot at the rail for Illuminations. That kind of thing is just ridiculous.

(Sorry, enough thread hijacking on my part.)

Well then I know you've done the "Superman" on the railing. (Only when you're not in anyone's way, of course.);)
We just stand to the sid eif we're in a standing mood, and SLOWLY walk when we can if we're in a walking mood. I'm not going to confront anyone on the walk/standway, but it IS disrespectful IMO for anyone...mostly kids...to take it at a full out run! Caution and consideration will get you a long way in life...including at Disney!:)

I do like to walk, but....

When I'm pushing DS in wheelchair, there are points on that ramp where we HAVE to put on the wheelchair brakes and just ride. At the steep up-hill part, it is dangerous to not have the wheelchair brakes on. I move the chair as far right as possible, but that really doesn't leave enough room for someone to pass on the left unless they are very small.

If you are pushing a wheelchair, or a stroller and have at least made an effort to move to the right, only the rudest of monsters would have a problem with you blocking their path. You made an attempt which is a lot more than what some mouth breathers do.

I don't care if anyone stands, walks, hops, skips or tiptoes on the walkway as long as they leave room for me to walk by. When we went in Nov., everyone was spread out, so it wasn't as if I had to just ask one group to please let us by, I would have to have asked nearly everyone in front of us. It was about 50/50 to how many people were just standing, or if not standing the kids and teenagers were running back and forth, making it hard to get by. If you are not moving forward, please be nice and make room for people who don't care to spend 5 min (probably not that long, but is def. much longer than the 15 seconds people are stating) on a walk way. I also don't think that me wanting to exit the line somewhat quickly is in any way selfish or atleast no more selfish than someone who enjoys standing and watching the whole way out. I don't tell you how to tour the park, so please don't tell me that I am selfish or all about ME because I don't care to stand behind a group who is being rude by taking up the entire walk way.

This thread is amazing. Seriously, you've been slowed down by, what, a minute in your exit from Space Mountain? This is just laughable to me.

It's more than a minute and when you have small kids waiting outside with grandparents that are anxious to go on a ride themselves, it seems laughable to have to stand behind groups of people who feel that the entire walkway belongs to them, when all they have to do is step to the side and they can view the scenes to their hearts content and allow those of us who don't want to smell those particular roses the chance to move on.

I seriously don't sweat the small stuff. Some people also might need to get their bearings back after being on a ride like that in the dark.
