Space Mountain and Dinosaur for Five-almost-Six Year Old?

One of the most upsetting things I've ever seen at the World was a little girl on Dinosaur with her parents. She was literally SCREAMING and shrieking...she was so distraught. Obviously she was not okay with the dark intensity of the ride, along with the scary images and sounds.

It's up to you...you know your daughter best. If she is not bothered by these things, then she'll be just fine.

The first time I went on Dinosaur I was 9 and I was scared witless and then when we went back last year I still didn't like it. For me I don't like things jumping out at me and the darkness didn't do anything for me either.

As for TOT, I was 7 when I went on it. What my mom and I did was wait in the line together but if I chickened out at the last minute was able to take the "escape" elevator and then waited for her at the end of the ride. Of course after she finished it and raved about it, I wanted to try it then so we got in line again and I loved it even though I had screamed my little head off! We went a third time since the picture turned out really bad (me burying my head into her shoulder, she trying to calm me down lol). I'm addicted to the ride now :teeth:

I almost forgot to mention SM! Anyway my first experience with the ride is kind of funny, again I think I was 7 and let's just say I was really nervous while waiting in line but my mom kept telling me everything would be fine, that it was safe, you know. So we finally got to the front of the line and were sitting in the car.

I promised her that if I survived the ride that I'd never be bad again! Suffice to say I survived and broke that promise. After the ride we went right back on it :)

Dinosaur is a nightmare waiting to happen for a small child. I'm not so sure about SM.

My DS4 at the time was too short for Space Mountain, but LOVED dinosaur.
We had to ride it 3 times in a row!

Only you know your children. Like Cupmom, my DS has always known that Santa isn't real, the characters are just people in costumes, and the rides are all about the special effects. My DS laughs throughout the entire Dinosaur ride from the sheer fun of it. Every single one of those pictures they take of the car he has been smiling in (my DH on the other hand...that's a different story :rotfl2: ).

The other nice thing about Dinosaur is that 4 people fit across the row. You can always put your child between two adults for that must extra reassurance.
