I am a Disneyland AP holder from the Bay Area, along with my wife and 13 year old son. We absolutely love Disneyland's Space Mountain and ride multiple times each trip. But...
We made our first trip to WDW last June, and all three of us prefer the Magic Kingdom version. I know that is not the popular opinion. In fact, the reasons we like it are some of the reasons others don't. We like that it's a rougher ride. We like the bobsled style seating. And, we like that there are two tracks. The WDW Space Mountain is actually very similar to the Matterhorn, which is one of our favorites at Disneyland. That may be why we prefer it. It's like Matterhorn in space.
The one thing that I definitely prefer in the Disneyland version is the sound. Having the speakers in your seat is so much better. You can hear the music clearly throughout the entire ride, which isn't the case at WDW.
I believe (not 100% positive) that Space at WDW is nearly identical to Matterhorn.
I love Space at DL, it is my favorite ride. I do not find it bumpy/jerky like the Matterhorn. I've only been to WDW once and I don't remember much about Space other than the single file seating. We get single file seating at Splash in DL and they get double at WDW; the two rides are swapped.
