Does anyone use space bags? thinking of getting them for our trip, but wondering how to get everything home without a vacuum???:confused3

Ziplock bags are a great alternative to the bags you're talking about. You can buy bigger sizes and they really do work well for traveling. Just put your clothes in, zip most of the way, push out the extra air (I roll my bags) and you're done. You can get a lot of stuff in a suitcase that way!;)

I use the 2 gallon ziplocks too. Space bags will only guarantee that your luggage is overweight. If you're traveling by air, security may need to open your space bags and then not be able to close your luggage.

I pack complete outfits for my whole family (even my dh) in the large ziplocks. Everything arrives neat and tidy and it makes mornings easier during the entire trip.

I roll the clothes instead of folding. I have found you can get 9 days of clothes for you and hubby if you roll them......BTW, we are "chunky" people.....LOL

Be careful with space bags because you can fit more the bags maybe too heavy and you coulkd get charged extra

We used these on our last trip and I called mousekeeping before we left to make sure they had a vaccum with a hose. They said yes. Well, the night before we leave I called to request a vaccum and they said, "no, we dont have ones with hoses"! Just great. We ended up doing the best we could by packing the bags and then practically laying on them to "roll" them up to get the air out. You do have to be careful if flying with them as you do get much more in a suitcase by using them thus making them much heavier.

We have a lot of the travel Space Bags and we use them for every trip. With them, we can fit about a week's worth of clothes for my DD6, DH and myself in our larger suitcase. However, since we *know* we'll be buying souvenirs, and we'll need a couple pairs of shoes (which don't roll well) as well as all of the other stuff we take (autograph books, pin trading lanyards, glow bracelets, etc) we usually end up taking a small and large bag, or two small bags instead. Even with tightly packing our large bag with space bags and other assorted stuff, we have a hard time getting it over 40lbs (SWA's limit is 50).

The travel bags you roll instead of vacuum. They have a one-way valve system at the far end that allows air out but not back in again. We also have some dual-use bags that have both that and the vacuum attachment. They work great for us! And we've never had a problem with TSA.
