Space and Celebration winners announced!

I am sorry but this just confirms all my suspicions and he won in the Celebrations cat w/o the word Celebration in the title!!!!

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Hey mal, he did have Celebration in his title..."Celebration - Meet the New NPC!" Mickey Mouse". It is the first word...

What is "inner circle"? Who (or what) is it? Is there a list somewhere? I want names. I keep seeing it mentioned in print but I don't know what it is. Or do I have to be part of some other "inner circle" to know?

the part I was talking about his cheating was he entered both contests....from reading the other forums he did not have Celebration in his title.

That came from another member ofthe VMKForums not me.

And I am removing that comment because I made it in haste and just went back to check and he won for his space room not the Celebration room anyways. But that does not change the fact he entered both.

There have been many posts here regarding everyone's anger towards Virtual Magic Kingdom and this so called inner circle. First, Please remember there were 643 rooms entered Saturday and actually this number was over 1000 rooms (Those who did not get judged). The competition was suppose to go from 5:00PM to 7:00PM, and the room judging went well beyond this 7:00PM stop time. The VMK Staff worked during their off time providing this wonderful event to everyone. Through out both Saturday and Sunday they were traveling around Virtual Magic Kingdom providing trivia questions and prizes. Please remember, This was during their off time (non-work) where most people are enjoying their weekends. Early Sunday morning 12:30AM, In the "Street Party Music Game" I was attempting to earn some credits before VMK closed. There were a few others within this room (not sure who they were) but we were very lucky that a VMK staff member came in asking trivia questions and providing prizes. This was approximately 12:30AM Sunday and the VMK staff were actually logged on since early Saturday morning, so this was an extremely long day for them also. There was a post on vmk fan site I read earlier stating that there were pretty bad storms hindering some computer systems, and some vmk staff members were pulled from their judging duties to assist in this disaster recovery situation. I have worked within the technology field for approximately 8 years, and if you have never experienced this situation it is really hard to explain, but it is complete mayhem. I totally agree that some things could have been handled differently, and hopefully they make these adjustments for the next event. The Virtual Magic Kingdom is a brand new application and experience, and therefore there will be some bumps and bruises along the way. The VMK staff did not have to provide this wonderful entertainment or event at all.

Saturday I spent so much time getting my room ready, and I was also searching Virtual Magic Kingdom searching for VMK staff. Both tasks were completed without any assistance or help from other VMK members. I definitely wish I had more assistance and help, but everybody was so busy doing their own things. During this weekend celebration I spent approximately 27 hours playing Virtual Magic Kingdom, even more than I actually slept. Some members have stated they have been getting their rooms ready for weeks, which is totally false because the vmk home page "What's New" did not communicate this competition until 07/11/2005. The VMK staff came into my room during the "Theme: Space" competition and only spent about 15-30 seconds within room, enough time to explain my theme around space and have them say good job (No special treatment here I want to point out). The VMK staff then immediately moved onto the next room to judge. Later that evening, I received a broadcast message stating sorry your room was not picked but nature had other ideas (or something like that). I was definitely bummed because like many vmk members I thought I had a wonderful theme room. Adding to the frustation, I could not find any VMK staff all day for any trivia and when I did find them my answers were always wrong. Eventhough I was extremely frustrated, I still kept a positive outlook consistently congratulating all the trivia winners (I never said this is unfair, or why not me, my answer was better, etc. Although, I may have been thinking those things I never communicated them). When logging into the vmk home page today I saw the "Whats New" results from the competition and did not really want to see them but curiousity got the best of me. I was extremely surprised to see my room listed as an honorable mention, especially after receiving that broadcast message, and also very excited and happy that I received this honorable mention. Coming home tonight I have seen so many negative and pessimistic posts regarding the winners on both vmk fan site and this site. To say the least, These negative and pessimistic comments have definitely placed a damper on this joyous occassion. Thanks for turning this joyous occasion into the totally opposite...

P.S. I personally only entered the Saturday "Theme: Space" event, and since spending some much time on this theme I never entered Sundays event. The rules clearly stated you could have one room entry into each event.

But he did have Celebration in his title I saw it on Sunday night. And did it say you could not enter both?

and who is the "inner circle"

WDWTigger72

None of what I have said here was about you. And congratulations on your win. I am sorry if peoples feelings about what has transpired at VMK has dampered your joy truly I am. But we all just need to vent this out...I really enjoy playing VMK and interacting with my DIS friends on the game. I just am not happy about things going on there with nepotism. And they way it affects children that play and also us adults. But mostly the children, if you think I am mad about all this now you can multiply that by 100 if my DS had had a room entered!

And let me make things about my anger at the producers of VMK very clear.

I am not mad or bitter at not winning. I really don't think I ever had a chance anyway. I am mad that a judge never even showed up in my room, that most of the same people who win everything, get inside info, get given things before they are released are the ones who won almost half of all the prizes given away in this event.

Answering Trivia wrong is in your control and I would never ever say "oh how unfair I did not get that right, or darn I was not there at the right moment! etc etc"

The VMK staff did not have to provide this wonderful entertainment or event at all.

This statement I totally disagree with as I have said before on VMKforums...it is their job and although Yavn is the producer of the game his boss is DISNEY and they do tell him what to do to an extent and the CELEBRATION event in VMK was probably something they asked that he do. Which it looks like they are going to have to take more control over these events in the future.

I entered both contests. I thought it was only one entry per person per contest. This meaning one room for Space and one room for Celebration. Am I wrong with this?

I know that my frustration came during Saturday night when my room name was not changing to show Space as the first word in my title. I called for a cast member to help me answer this right away since judging had started and guests coming into my room (also guests on the outside) said they did not see my room name change. This was very disheartening. I understand that they were busy judging, but i also got the message not to call for a cm unless I was having problems with another guest. Ok, no problem. I used the VMK website call button and still have no heard anything back. I also did not have my room judged that night. OK, so sadness out of the way (since I had no idea at the time what the reason was), I entered into the Celebration room contest (after displaying my musical talents in Bezoar's show room :) ). Ok, this time I was judged! That was the best feeling ever, but that quickly ceased when all my friends did not have their rooms judged.

I understand that the VMK staff has their hands full. A lot has been going on. I just feel for the kids (who are not able to rationalize everything like adults) who were extremely disappointed because they used all their credits (the site did say to save your credits to make the best room) on a room that was never visited. That is what hurts more than anything...since this is a kids/tweens game.

BTW, Congrats on your honorable mention WDWTigger72 :) :wizard:

sorry Astryd I did not see your post I was answering the one by WDWtigger

yes it did clearly state you could not, I beleive I copied and pasted the rules to another post I will look for it.

As I stated before someone on VMKforums had made that comment about Celebration not being in his room title. And I jumped the gun. But that really does not matter since he won for Space and had two entries and should have been disqualified.

I think I have really said more than I should anyway.

Sorry, but is does sound like you are mad and bitter weather at not winning or not being judged. It is a game.

Yes you are right I am mad about the events that transpired not that I did not win. That is why I said I probably have said too much because people are going to think I am bitter when I am not.

I am mad more at the lack of DISNEYNESS that VMK producers are showing in this what is supposed to be a game for kids.

And I hope that my friends know that is where I am coming from and not from bitterness of not winning or from not getting a silly magic pin.

WDWtigger

then I stand corrected because I thought it meant one per the event. And I do not think I am the only one that thought that. But it looks like others took it that it was one per cat not the whole event.

Mal,
I believe the rules could have been read different ways. I can see this now from your view point.

And I for one would heart to have a stupid magic pin (maybe that darn inferno or magic carpet). :)

I hope that we can all come to a common understanding of where one another is coming from. I don't know about you all, but it is getting late here and I am very sleepy. A good night's rest will do us all good.

OK I don't get it How di you get honourable mention if you room was not seen by a judge before the contest closed. :confused3

But congrats anyways because you spent so much time on it and put alot of effort into it.

Maybe they should consider a prize for everyone who entered... I mean, nothing HUGE like a dancing inferno pin or anything, but maybe something like 20 or 50 credits for at least trying, ya know?

That is a good suggestions.

That's a great suggestion. Perhaps the next VMK staff I see I will pass it along. Their contact us page isn't very reliable. Sent a couple different messages and still haven't received a reply. But then again, if you offered an incentive for everyone then perhaps it would be too crowded and too hard to judge?

I have some mixed thoughts on this. I can see where they are trying BUT sometimes there seems to be a lack of common sense. I would have thought they would have learned from the parade fiasco but apperantly not.

The weird thing to me is that Disney would never allow an event to go off unless every t was crossed and every i dotted. I understand what they are trying to do but I think what they really need to do is just stop doing these special events untill they can work out the mechanisms to handle them!
