Spa at SSR

I have had several treatments at SSR and loved each of my experiences. The "waiting lounge" is coed, something I don't really care for, but you can actually do most of your waiting downstairs in either the men's or women's lounge and come up just before your treatment. I do like the set up at the GF slighty more, but I like the acutal facilities at SSR much better.

It is expensive. Here in Atlanta, treatments much less expensive, but it is an indulgence I enjoy while on vacation. The Adirondack Stone Massage is my favorite!

expensive thus my previous comment about have you ever seen anything at Disney cheap because I sure havent, everything is expensive. .

Being from the Boston area I'm surprised you find things really that much more expensive in Disney World.

In February, I booked a 50 minute couples massage for my wife and I at the SSR Spa. It was an awesome experience.

The facilities at the SSR spa are first class. It is as good or better than most 4-5 star resort spas in the US.

While I've not been to the GF spa, I would highly recommend the spa at SSR.

I have had the Peppermint Pig Pedicure two years in a row at the SSR spa and absolutely adore it! They have a fragant peppermint wash for the feet and cute holiday colors for the finishing touch on the toes. I would definitely recommend this and the DVC Members have enjoyed a discount on this in the past as well.

We just had the pepermint pedicures.. was very nice but I was disapointed that the massage chair was broken... you could not get it to turn on or even move at all.

Here's the link to SSR's spa prices. I would love to have a massage and surprise DH with one. He has given me certificates for massages (not at WDW) on a couple of different occasions and they were wonderful!

I had a massage by A****** (don't want to post full name) in 2/06. While the facility and everything about it was nice, the massage was not. I don't even know how to describe it, since I have only had a few in my life, although the others were all wonderful. It was like pressure on ticklish areas that was uncomfortable and wierd stretching motions that were not relaxing to me at all. But, to each his own and someone else may have really enjoyed the same massage. I would not do it again though.

C'mon now I see your from the Boston area too lol. Even prices in NY which are usually the highest I've seen anywhere pale in comparison to Disney, lets be real here ahahaha!! How do you think they made over 1 billion dollars last quarter. Disney will give you what you want and it will be of the highest quality, but make no mistake you will pay heavily for it.

Considering I have a friends that rent cottages up at Hampton Beach for $2500/week - no I don't find the prices that outrageous for what you get in Disney World. I also don't find the restaurant prices that out of line from around here. Maybe a buck or two more per entree but that's about it. As for the spa the only thing I could compare it to is the Spa at the Marriot on Hilton Head, and I paid $65 plus tip for a pedicure - which I believe that price is in the same ball park as SSR spa. I don't visit "spa's" at home. Usually just on vacation.

And as far as Disney making any money - I'm not seeing great dividends coming my way from my stock. I should have sold it a long time ago, but keep it as a teaching tool for my DS 10. Never let emotion influence your financial decisions.

DD and I have had massages, manicures and pedicures (I have had the Peppermint Pig Pedicure!) and enjoyed them tremendously!!!! The times were were at SSR Spa, the lounge was quiet, but there were men there too. In fact, on one trip, a couple was having tea served to them I guess after their couple's massage - but it didn't bother us. The massages were fabulous - aromatherapy is great. DD was pregnant during one visit, and the special pregnancy massage she got was terrific, very relaxing, and they took great care of her. We have been at the Grand Floridian Spa also and think that the services are comparable, of course the decor is different, and the prices are about the same - more expensive that locally here in NJ, but like a previous poster said, we are on vaca and at WDW!!!!!!!
