While I love to buy my shirt or pin that has Disney all over it when I take a WDW trip, I also like to find unique items, especially from EPCOT and DTD shops. MIL bought us a beautiful Santa lace Christmas decoration from Germany one year and although no one else knows it, we enjoy it because we know it came from WDW.

What "non-traditional" WDW souviniers have you found that you have been able to incorporate as a decoration around your house or other? I'd love to hear them as we prepare for our upcoming trip and as I finish decorating our house!

I bought myself a giraffe from Zawadi (gift shop at AKL)
a woven beobob (beyobab?) tree with woven giraffes/elephants under it (the entire thing is an ornament from Harambe village in AK)

I also have 2 prints of the AKL. (hmmm...think I like AK/AKL?)

my living room has beige carpet, warm reddish brown leather furniture, and I've accented it with all my AK/AKL souviners...looks great I think. Not totally "african/over the top" but the touches are nice.

We stocked up the kitchen last year with the store from Japan at WS.. okay, not really stocked.. but we bought a gorgeous matching set of stonewear bowls, sushi style plates, tea pot, cups, and chopsticks. I love them not only because I love Japanese culture but also because it reminds me of the fun we had spending a very long time shopping in the store in Japan!

We had Silohuettes made of the boys in DTD. They sell the oval frame and it does not have any logo's on it.

I hung them both in our entry hall and I really love seeing them when I come home!

oh yeah - we bought a set of rice bowls/chopsticks too. Forgot about those! heheh

I love the ornament shop over by Frontierland, I think.

They do personalized ornaments, and I don't think they necessarily have a logo on them...but they're beautiful heirlooms.

In fact, I need to put that on my list - even though it's May :)

Epcot is filled with things "non-Disney" - anywhere you go.

Some lovely african bits and bobs from AK, beautiful embroidered chinese cushion covers from EPCOT, and LOADS of stuff 'smothered in logos'!! can't get enough.

cuckoo clock from Germany, a very nice fan from China and a bonzai tree from Japan.

my wife bought slippers at the japan pavilion

we also bought an art piece for the wall at AK...its 4 wooden animal heads hanging one underneath the other

I've got a collection of happy cats from the Japanese department store. I also have a troll from Norway. Nice reminders.

I will definitely have to remember to look for one. My grandmother has one in her home, and my kids adore it! Every time the bird comes out, they all say that the clock "cucked" (Küked) ! :rotfl:

I love to drink tea, and I have a beautiful flowered tea cup that I bought in the Twinings shop in Epcot.

I have two pearls my son (11 yrs.) chose for me from Typhoon Lagoon (you can also get them from the Japanese pavilion at EPCOT) that I had set in a pendant for gold/silver chains I had at home. Every time I wear them, I think about WDW and how proud my DS was when he got them for me.

I have a silk CD case and a silk jewelry roll which I bought in Epcot at China. I use them every day, and I love them. I bought a smaller jewelry roll for my DGD (3 1/2 at the time) and added to it a couple of mood rings from Pop Century. She loves the "big girl jewelry case" like mine, and the mood rings that match mine (also from Pop Century). When I'm there next month, I want to buy her a pearl necklace, which will match the one that I bought in Japan (it will be her birthday present).

On my desk here at the office (besides a couple of refillable mugs from the resorts and DCL) I have a carved wooden elephant business card holder from the AK.

Two weeks ago I was on a jewellry binge - not sure why! I do have a number of glass pendants from Italy which get comments, and are a nice reminder of actual visits to that country.

I bought my mother an amber pendant in Mexico which is similar to ones sold in Eastern Europe, and which she had in her younger days.

For my sister and a friend, I always have to get Hello Kitty things from Mitsukoshi in Japan. The HK toaster with pop up post it notes was a great hit!

We have some artwork by the artist at Zawadi marketplace at AKL.

GASP! I love Hello Kitty!! I'll have to look for that on my upcoming trip!!

Yin-yang massage balls from China in WS. Also, my favorite keychain - Star Wars keychain from Tatooine Traders.

There's always more adults than kids in the Hello Kitty section! Always a good selection at Mitsukoshi. They also carry Monchichi for anyone who was a kid in the 70's!
